Break Miyama: Greetings.
Iliad Chronicle: Good evening.
Thats So Unreal: Afternoon, Xian.
Iliad Chronicle: So...
Iliad Chronicle: What am I here for?
Break Miyama: I'll let Amadeus proceed.
Iliad Chronicle: I'm can only guess there's some sort of problem if I'm in an AIM chat
Thats So Unreal: Oh, yeah..
Thats So Unreal: Well...
Thats So Unreal: You know, I'm just going to put it in an extremely blunt fashion.
Thats So Unreal: Calenine has several "stupid" users that are ruining it for everyone.
Thats So Unreal: Well, for me and Skyelyn, anyway.
Iliad Chronicle: ...
Iliad Chronicle: Explain.
Thats So Unreal: If you want the best example, look at Yuki.
Break Miyama: It's gotten to the point where I've considered leaving Cale.
Iliad Chronicle: I see.
Break Miyama: It's well-run, and the community is decent....
Break Miyama: But people like Yuki really do ruin that.
Iliad Chronicle: This isn't really what I'd call news. People like Yuki bug me too
Iliad Chronicle: That's why it was hard for me to make someone like her a mod.
Break Miyama: So I've heard.
Iliad Chronicle: Seriously.
Break Miyama: Personally, I'd rather lack a mod than to have someone who is ill-qualified to fill the position.
Iliad Chronicle: Well, okay, so you've both told me that there are users that are best done something with.
Iliad Chronicle: How to you propose I deal with this?
Thats So Unreal: How about using those admin powers?
Thats So Unreal: Ban some asses.
Break Miyama: .....well, perhaps not banning outright.
Iliad Chronicle: Pah.
Break Miyama: That is a last resort, if anything.
Break Miyama: A warning -should- be sufficient as a first effort.
Iliad Chronicle: Are you kidding me? If I wanted to ban everyone I wanted to ban, I would have done it ages ago.
Break Miyama: What's stopping you?
Iliad Chronicle: I can't just ban people for acting like loons. I need to make the game appeal on a somewhat common level
Iliad Chronicle: I mean, I can't just tell people "START ROLEPLAYING BETTER DAMMIT," but you're both right
Iliad Chronicle: Something does need to be done about this
Iliad Chronicle: This isn't the first this has been brought to my attention
Break Miyama: I see nothing wrong with putting your foot down regarding such a situation, even if it'll make you seem like a bit of an asshole to others.
Thats So Unreal: Apparently.
Iliad Chronicle: Hmm
Iliad Chronicle: I guess you're right
Iliad Chronicle: There's no point in keeping users no one wants.
Thats So Unreal: Right
Thats So Unreal: Nothing of value was lost
Break Miyama: At least see if they're willing to change first.
Iliad Chronicle: That's reasonable.
Iliad Chronicle: I could start imposing guidelines and much more active patrols
Iliad Chronicle: I would at least like to change horrible users if I possibly can
Break Miyama: Examples of such guidelines?
Thats So Unreal: Zocra was changed, was he not?
Iliad Chronicle: True
Iliad Chronicle: Zocra used to be a thirteen year old pain in the ass.
Iliad Chronicle: But. he's got on my good side quite a bit recently.
Iliad Chronicle: I don't want to lose any users, i really don't.
Break Miyama: If losing some users will improve the quality of the site, I see nothing wrong with it.
Iliad Chronicle: Especially you two. I'm not trying to pay forward lipservice, both of you are excellent roleplayers I want to see around.
Iliad Chronicle: Like, when a new user comes along that seems A-list, I make sure I get them engaged straight from the get-go
Break Miyama: I will put it this way: not ever user has to be valued equally.
Break Miyama: Keeping that which isn't of quality will cause those who are worth having to jump ship.
Iliad Chronicle: That's why Skyelyn is in two of my quests, and why I asked Okami to make sure Amadeus gets good with the pirates.
Thats So Unreal: Can I ask something?
Break Miyama: Do not be afraid to put your foot down. THis is a situation in which application of power is entirely appropriate.
Break Miyama: .....albiet, the first killed off in one quest....
Iliad Chronicle: Now now, I didn't say it would end there, now did I?
Break Miyama: Death is rather final.
Iliad Chronicle: Death is, yes.
Break Miyama: But it's hardly relevant now.
Iliad Chronicle: But, I never said that's how it would end up being
Iliad Chronicle: I'll leave it at that.
Thats So Unreal: Umm...
Iliad Chronicle: Oh right
Iliad Chronicle: Please, ask.
Thats So Unreal: Thank you.
Thats So Unreal: Why is Yuki so favored anyway? It seems like she is seeing as how she gets away with so much.
Iliad Chronicle: Ugh...
Iliad Chronicle: Yuki is sort of like a good food that looks horrible.
Iliad Chronicle: Allow me to explain.
Iliad Chronicle: Yuki has been with us since version two. And she was pretty much responsible for referring over half our active users, both back then and in some cases, now.
Iliad Chronicle: Plus she's donated money to the site and bought a t-shirt when they went on sale.
Break Miyama: Then talking to her would be the best option.
Break Miyama: Quite frankly, she acts like a two-year-old.
Iliad Chronicle: I'm more than aware of this.
Iliad Chronicle: I was planning on giving her a stern talking-to eventually.
Iliad Chronicle: Like, soon
Thats So Unreal: Doooo it.
Break Miyama: It would help.
Thats So Unreal: I've been with Calenine for...a somewhat good while
Thats So Unreal: And I know it's a good site
Thats So Unreal: But Skyelyn is a relatively new user, and people like her don't know that for a fact.
Thats So Unreal: And when Yuki goes around posting manic smiley faces and doing random shit, it doesn't paint a good picture for potential good users.
Thats So Unreal: I think now we understand why you haven't torn her a new asshole yet being how she's played a valuable role with the site.
Thats So Unreal: But still
Thats So Unreal: Come on, you have to tame her somewhat.
Iliad Chronicle: You're right.
Iliad Chronicle: You're both right.
Break Miyama: Why am I reading about torture devices as we're talking about effective user discipline?....
Break Miyama: ...I mean.
Break Miyama: Yes.
Iliad Chronicle: I'm going to be truthful here
Iliad Chronicle: Users the admins don't like often get maltreatment IC.
Iliad Chronicle: Like, death, torture, EXP loss, money loss
Break Miyama: That's fine.
Iliad Chronicle: That sort of thing
Iliad Chronicle: Perhaps it's about time Yuki got knocked down a peg.
Thats So Unreal: That would be lovely
Thats So Unreal: Come on, you're the character with the Nazi-style armband
Thats So Unreal: Start making with the stereotype of brutality!
Break Miyama: Lawful Evil: Anything you cannot get to conform, you choke the everloving shit out of.
Iliad Chronicle: Xian's meant to be the Calenine Napoleon or Alexander the Great.
Iliad Chronicle: Hell, even Stalin could describe him
Iliad Chronicle: I'm sure I could be a little more lethal than I have been
Thats So Unreal: Not just a little
Thats So Unreal: Lots!
Break Miyama: IF anything, a shift in character could promote interest if applied well.
Iliad Chronicle: Well, ever since I implemented the Diplomacy and Economics system, we've been taking the issue of land conquest seriously
Iliad Chronicle: Instead of just looking like the brutal conquerer, maybe I should start acting it. Crucifixion, water torture, burning alive, cutting off limbs
Break Miyama: MAke one of those conquests happen.
Iliad Chronicle: The possibilities are endless.
Break Miyama: That's the spirit.
Break Miyama: Invite hell.
Thats So Unreal: I might have to fight against you being a pirate, but I'm all in favor of that.
Break Miyama: She's a wonderful guest.
Iliad Chronicle: I'm up to anything.
Iliad Chronicle: But, more to the point of the issue at hand
Iliad Chronicle: Both of you have completely turned me onto the fact that user stupidity is not something I can just simply turn my back on and expect to magically go away
Break Miyama: I fully expect action to be taken as a result, then.
Iliad Chronicle: If I didn't have a migraine from staring at the computer for several hours without a break, I'd put some sort of action in right now.
Break Miyama: If it works out, you shall see me posting again.
Break Miyama: It can wait for a little bit, if you're not in the mindset for it.
Iliad Chronicle: I've got all day tommorow...later today.
Break Miyama: Fair enough.
Iliad Chronicle: The last thing I want is to lose users I actually value
Break Miyama: Alright.
Thats So Unreal: And how.
Iliad Chronicle: I'll tell you both what.
Iliad Chronicle: I'll devise a content regulation system tommorow.
Iliad Chronicle: Essentially, it's telling the users "STOP SUCKING SO MUCH," but I'll go into more details
Break Miyama: Alright.
Iliad Chronicle: Even I'm starting to grow annoyed at the consistency at which some Calenine users are being morons
Iliad Chronicle: I've been running this site since early 2003, it's been through two crashes, five versions, and endless amounts of mods, but I'm not giving up on it
Iliad Chronicle: There are no bad ideas. And I'm extremely glad this was brought up
Break Miyama: THe reassurance is lovely, but I do want to see this acted through.
Thats So Unreal: Yes, what she said.
Iliad Chronicle: Ask anyone who has given me suggestions, I always put them into action if they're good.
Iliad Chronicle: And this is gold, trust me
Thats So Unreal: Oh wait, before we forget.
Thats So Unreal: The race based stat system.
Thats So Unreal: I'll be frank
Break Miyama: Run the content regulation system by us before implementation.
Thats So Unreal: Please get rid of it
Break Miyama: .....actually, level progression in general is rather terrible.
Iliad Chronicle: In response to the content regulation methods, can do.
Break Miyama: It's linear and relies on small numbers, meaning that stat gaps get very large very quickly.
Iliad Chronicle: In response to the race based stat thing, I'll see what I can do
Iliad Chronicle: It was something started by Tutelage, and a billion users have complained about it
Iliad Chronicle: In fact, I don't think I've heard anything good about it.
Iliad Chronicle: Hmm, I'll see what i can do.
Break Miyama: The roleplaying opportunities -should- be sufficient motivation to play any particular race.
Iliad Chronicle: That's what I was thinking
Break Miyama: I'll get into the mathematics of the level progression at a later time.
Iliad Chronicle: When Tutelage brought this up to me, I only thought we were going to add roleplaying benefits, not battle ones
Iliad Chronicle: And then...
Iliad Chronicle: Well, you know.
Break Miyama: Yeah.
Thats So Unreal: Yeah, I can see the roleplaying benefits being okay
Thats So Unreal: Like flying Dragons, Aquarians that can breathe underwater
Thats So Unreal: That's fine.
Break Miyama: 10% more melee damage if you're a demon....
Break Miyama: ......seriously.
Thats So Unreal: But, you know...
Thats So Unreal: Right now, under what Tutelage made, I, a Demon Long Arm will have like, three times more ATK than Skye, a Human Long Arm by level 10
Thats So Unreal: That...just isn't cool.
Break Miyama: Exactly.
Iliad Chronicle: I assure you
Iliad Chronicle: I'll get it revised
Break Miyama: Stat difference between classes are also a problem, but less so.
Iliad Chronicle: I don't want to get rid of it completely because it will kinda be a kick in the grocones to Tutelage who made it, but I'll revise it so it's only roleplaying benefits rather than stat ones
Iliad Chronicle: He seemed up to that last time I talked to him.
Break Miyama: Got it.
Break Miyama: I'll see if I can talk to you about the math of stats between classes later.
Break Miyama: See if it's really what you want.
Iliad Chronicle: Again, suggestions are welcome.
Break Miyama: At the moment, it's 2:30 AM, and my mind is begging me to sleep.
Iliad Chronicle: PM them to me if you want to inquire about that.
Iliad Chronicle: So then I have a hard copy
Iliad Chronicle: Sorta
Iliad Chronicle: Yeah, me to
Iliad Chronicle: o
Thats So Unreal: Lightweights
Break Miyama: Trillian automatically logs IM conversations for me.
Break Miyama: Hard copies are rarely a problem in a live conversation.
Thats So Unreal: It's only noon here.
Break Miyama: It's the afternoon for you, Amadeus - you're hardly in a position to speak.
Break Miyama: As it stands, I do have finals soon.
Iliad Chronicle: Well, a PM would be nice still
Break Miyama: Fair enough.
Iliad Chronicle: That way I can see it whilst browsing Calenine
Break Miyama: I'll try to send one your way tomorrow, but it may reach you as late as Friday because of finals.
Thats So Unreal: Skye's got the ideas, I'm merely a communicator.
Iliad Chronicle: Good enough
Break Miyama: If you say so.
Iliad Chronicle: And I promise that if you stay in the quests I've got you on, I'll make them worth yout while
Iliad Chronicle: your*
Iliad Chronicle: Both of you
Break Miyama: .....as I said, if the changes are done correctly, I'll start posting again.
Thats So Unreal: Oh, I know they will.
Iliad Chronicle: Then I'll do whatever it takes.
Iliad Chronicle: Send me your suggestions, I'll see what I can do
Iliad Chronicle: I guess it is time I assert power, especially when USERS themselves are telling me to
Thats So Unreal: Yes
Break Miyama: "Whatever it takes"? That seems less like you're trying to improve the site and more like you're trying to impress me, given what you've responded to. =P
Thats So Unreal: If the retards can't handle it, nothing of value was lost
Thats So Unreal: It's what I've been saying all night long.
Iliad Chronicle: Oh don't think I'm giving you special treatment
Break Miyama: I never assumed that.
Iliad Chronicle: I just take these sorts of things seriously.
Break Miyama: Right, then.
Break Miyama: We'll see how it goes.
Iliad Chronicle: Usually when users I like start giving me suggestions, they're generally good ones.
Thats So Unreal: Hoolay
Break Miyama: Regarding Big Brother....
Iliad Chronicle: Go on.
Break Miyama: .....I really fail to see how the characters can be so calm in the face of death.
Iliad Chronicle: ...
Break Miyama: Galahad, he's drunk. He has an excuse.
Iliad Chronicle: That was bugging me too
Iliad Chronicle: Well yeah
Break Miyama: But everyone is so emotionless.
Iliad Chronicle: I mean, the one NPC I brung in, I had him drown his troubles in liquor
Break Miyama: Even the good characters of the bunch stand idle as one of their own is about to die.
Iliad Chronicle: Maybe I should have someone "accidentally" trip over the red line
Break Miyama: It's silly.
Break Miyama: Who needs tripping?
Break Miyama: Just blow someone up indiscriminately.
Iliad Chronicle: Which is why I used the modifier "accidentally"
Thats So Unreal: I get organs
Thats So Unreal: I put them in plastic bags
Thats So Unreal: With teriyaki sauce
Iliad Chronicle: Yes
Iliad Chronicle: You do that.
Break Miyama: It's win/win.
Iliad Chronicle: I really need to go to bed. My head hurts so bad it might hemmorhage if I stare at the computer for much longer.
Break Miyama: Understood. We'll speak again soon.
Iliad Chronicle: Skye, please PM me your suggestions, or notify me by AIM, whatever's convenient.
Break Miyama: Noted.
Iliad Chronicle: Amadeus, if you have anything to contribute, see prior
Thats So Unreal: I hear you loud and clear
Iliad Chronicle: Anyway, i go now.
Iliad Chronicle: I*
Iliad Chronicle: Good night everyone
Thats So Unreal: See you.
