House Tyrell rules the Reach from their seat at Highgarden. Mace Tyrell is the current Lord of Highgarden.
The Tyrells served sa stewards for the Kings of the Reach. Through the female line they claim descent from Garth Greenhand. When King Mern, last of the old line, perished on the Field of Fire, Harlen Tyrell surrendered Highgarden and pledged fealty to Aegon the Conquerer. Aegon granted him the castle and dominion over the Reach.
