House Mormont is sworn to the Lord of Winterfell. They hold Bear Island. Maege Mormont is the current Lady of Bear Island
Ser Jorah Mormont was anointed to knighthood by the High Septon. He sold some poachers to a Tyroshi slaver instead of giving them to the Night's Watch. For this reason he was outlawed.
Ser Jorah ended up in Pentos where he attended a feast thrown by Khal Drogo. Other people attending the feast were Khal Moro and his son Rhogoro, Viserys III Targaryen and his sister Daenerys Targaryen, Magister Illyrio Mopatis and the brother of the Archon of Tyrosh.
