Proofs of God

56: Proofs of God
1. Some of the atheists ask for proof of
2. God. The believers reply that belief
3. in God depends on faith alone. They are
4. correct. However, many of the atheists
5. demand logical proof., believing they can
6. outsmart the believers. Although faith
7. and belief in God should not require
8. proof, God has the mercy and caring to
9. establish logical proofs, though His prophet Aquinas, to convince
10. even the unbelievers. God is truly great.
11. Thus God will say to the unbeliever:
12. “You observe that some things in the
13. world are in motion. Whatever is in motion
14. is put into motion by still another object that is in motion.
15. Just ask my prophets Newton and Einstein. This other object, in turn was
16. put into motion by still another object,
17. and so forth. This series cannot go no
18. backwards into infinity, though, since there
19. would otherwise be no first mover and thus
20. no subsequent movement. Therefore, one must
21. conclude that there is a first unmoved mover,
22. who is I, God. Following this, you
23. observe that everything has an efficient cause
24. and that nothing is or can be the cause
25. of itself. It is impossible, though, that
26. the series of causes should extend
27. back to infinity because every cause
28. is dependent on a prior cause and
29. the ultimate cause is thus dependent
30. on a previous cause. So if there is no
31. first cause, there will be no intermediate
32. causes and no final causes. But the
33. absence of such causes obviously does
34. not match with your observations, and so there
35. must therefore be a first efficient cause,
36. which everyone knows to be Me, God.
37. Furthermore, observe that beings in the
38. world have characteristics to varying degrees.
39. Some are more or less good, true, noble, and
40. so forth. Such gradations are all
41. measured in relation to a maximum
42. however. Thus, there must be something
43. best, truest, noblest, and so on. Therefore,
44. there must be something that is the
45. cause of goodness, being, and every other
46. perfection we find in beings in
47. the world. I, God am this maximum.
48. Finally, you observe in nature that
49. inanimate and non-intelligent objects act
50. towards a favorable purpose, even chaos does.
51. Obviously, these objects do not
52. achieve their purpose by sheer chance,
53. but according to a plan. A plan needs
54. a maker. I am this maker. I am
55. God and I exist.” God exists. Repeat:
56. “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear
57. is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my
58. fear. I will permit it to pass over me and
59. through me. And when it has gone past,
60. I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
61. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing.
62. Only I will remain, a survivor.” Crush
63. those who hoard wealth and exploit others.
64. Spread the truth and justice of
65. God everywhere. As the prophet Zoroaster said:
66. “The greatest moral concerns of men are these,
67. to make him who is an enemy a friend,
68. to make him who is wicked righteous,
69. and to make him who is ignorant learned.”
Commentary: This book offers logical proofs of the existence of God although it states that a true believer should not need proof and should act on faith alone. The proofs of God can be summed up as such:
1 - FIRST MOVER: Some things are in motion, anything moved is moved by another, and there can't be an infinite series of movers. So there must be a first mover (a mover that isn't itself moved by another). This is God.
2 - FIRST CAUSE: Some things are caused, anything caused is caused by another, and there can't be an infinite series of causes. So there must be a first cause (a cause that isn't itself caused by another). This is God.
3 - NECESSARY BEING: Every contingent being at some time fails to exist. So if everything were contingent, then at some time there would have been nothing -- and so there would be nothing now -- which is clearly false. So not everything is contingent. So there is a necessary being. This is God.
4 - GREATEST BEING: Some things are greater than others. Whatever is great to any degree gets its greatness from that which is the greatest. So there is a greatest being, which is the source of all greatness. This is God.
5 - INTELLIGENT DESIGNER: Many things in the world that lack intelligence act for an end. Whatever acts for an end must be directed by an intelligent being. So the world must have an intelligent designer. This is God.
The books ends by warning against fear, condemning hoarding, and praising the spread of truth and justice. It states that everyone should make negatives positives.
