Storyteller (11:49:31 PM): (Next Day.)

Revision as of 23:19, 18 August 2007

Storyteller (7:21:27 PM): When we last were here, everyone made a valiant escape from the seemingly invulnerable monster. You also found coffins on
it's back and saw two arcana symbols on the coffins.
Storyteller (7:21:54 PM): You are now in the hallway, with a paralyzed Mr. Arroyo.
Storyteller (7:23:07 PM): What you do?
Brian (7:23:14 PM): Brian Steffanoskovich took a deep breath, the heavy fur robes lacing his body weighing down on him.
Kentarou (7:23:25 PM): Ken shifted the paralyzed man's weight in his arms and looked around. "I'm not an idea man, what do we do from here?"
Brian (7:23:28 PM): "Those coffins...why were they there..." Brian (7:24:09 PM): He was slightly shaken by seeing the symbol of his own specialty, the power of Forces, the power of Gaia herself, emblazoned on the
creature's back. The death of mother...the end of what
Brian (7:24:18 PM): Brian was always attempting to keep alive...
Adler (7:24:44 PM): Alexis, who you know as Adler, scoots down the hallway a little on her butt before scrambling back to her feet standing against a wall.
Adler (7:25:15 PM): ((She having literally tumbled out of the door at the end of the last session))
Brian (7:26:07 PM): The large man shook his head slightly, attempting to focus. "Those coffins have something to do with the Arcana."
Storyteller (7:26:32 PM): You can hear a beating noise on the door, accompanied by a low growling sound. Then, suddenly a piercing shout.
Brian (7:26:43 PM): "There are 10 Arcana, and yet, I only saw 9. The last one...could either be the key to destroying it, or is the next target of the
creat-THE HELL!?"
Storyteller (7:27:18 PM): Then, suddenly, still and quiet.
Brian (7:28:15 PM): Equan fluffed its feathers slightly on Brian's shoulder, the strange familiar creating static electricity through its
wings. "...what just happened?"
Adler (7:28:20 PM): "T-that was frightening." Adler stammers.
Storyteller (7:30:20 PM): Then, everything shakes a little as the door bows outward slightly.
Adler (7:30:44 PM): She takes a few deep breaths before continuing, "We should get further away..."
Brian (7:30:54 PM): Brian's spear staff twirled quickly in his fingers, pointing the gemmed end toward the door. "Everyone...grab your things and run...NOW."
Kentarou (7:31:44 PM): Kenji hefted the old mage in his arms and started off. "Not telling me twice..."
Adler (7:32:45 PM): The teenager scrambles after him, clutching her messenger bag to her chest so it doesn't get caught on something again.
Storyteller (7:34:28 PM): You all scramble outside.
Brian (7:34:37 PM): Brian waited until the rest ran before turning to run himself.
Brian (7:35:01 PM): If the doors had been made of wood, he might have been able to bring life to them, reinforcing their power. But no, those doors were
made of steel. And Gaia breaths no life into metal.
Storyteller (7:36:35 PM): As everone files out the beast pokes it head out from behind the door.
Peter (7:36:59 PM): He ran by, a small fluttering "bird" as some might see it at his shoulder. He jumped up into the air, seeming almsot surprised
as he fell down again. "Wait! Wendy!"
Storyteller (7:37:43 PM): Once outside, you all hear the piercing roar of the monster.
Peter (7:37:50 PM): He was a little on the short side, with a shock of reddiish-brown hiar. He wore a borwn cracked leather jacket and a pair of beat-up
blue jeans with an odd cloth pair of shoes on. His skin was pale without any real blemishes on it.
Kentarou (7:37:54 PM):
"Shiiiiit, it's still coming... We need a safe place, FAST."
Peter (7:38:18 PM): He stopped as he heard a sudden roar. "What's that?" He glanced to his shoulder for a second before looking at the assortment of
people in front of him.
Adler (7:39:02 PM): "Explain later, run away FASTER."
Storyteller (7:39:21 PM): Nacht, perception+awareness.
Peter (7:40:01 PM): ((You mean Wits+Composure?))
OnlineHost (7:40:45 PM): Peter rolled 6 10-sided dice: 2 8 7 4 3 7
Peter (7:40:51 PM): ((1))
Storyteller (7:41:49 PM): You notice the coffins on the back of the beast as it burst forth from the inn doors. It bellow "MY HAAAAAAAAAAAND!"
Storyteller (7:42:39 PM): Then it's bone masked face stares at you, and damn if it's not a scary, ugly thing.
Peter (7:42:43 PM): He hopped back, his hand going to the sheath at his hip, fingers wrapping aroudn the rapier-hilt as he focused for a second, knowing
he couldn't get himself killed before he caught up to Wendy
Peter (7:42:50 PM): (Spellcasting, Time Armor)
OnlineHost (7:42:59 PM): Peter rolled 4 10-sided dice: 9 2 2 8
Kentarou (7:43:29 PM): "It's hand? File that for later, girl genius!"

OnlineHost (7:43:48 PM): Storyteller rolled 1 10-sided die: 8
Adler (7:44:10 PM): "Its not like I could forget or anything!" the terrified 16 year old shouts back
Storyteller (7:44:41 PM): The thing gives a mighty leap, and lands a few inches away from you.
Peter (7:45:24 PM): "Run!" He shouted at the group of strangers as he drew the blade and ran at the monster.
Storyteller (7:45:52 PM): It takes note of you then runs off, the same way as those people. And possibly Wendy.
Storyteller (7:46:09 PM): You're not 100% on which way she went.
Adler (7:47:05 PM): "Master wanted me to learn space magic, but NoOoOo..."
Peter (7:47:08 PM): His face dropped. "Why is everybody running from me today Tink?" He sighed, focusing his mind for a moment, he needed to catch up,
but this would help.
Peter (7:47:20 PM): (Mind if I throw another spell Arispe?)
Storyteller (7:47:30 PM): About now, Arroyo unparalyzes. (Sure. new round)
Peter (7:47:40 PM): ((Acceleration))
OnlineHost (7:47:45 PM): Peter rolled 4 10-sided dice: 10 10 3 6

Kentarou (7:50:31 PM): Kenji is glad to see the old man seems fine. "You alright there, Mr. Arroyo?"
Storyteller (7:50:40 PM): "I'm alive.

Adler (7:52:22 PM): ((what are we rolling for?)
Storyteller (7:52:35 PM): Nobody's really certain when they turned, or in Peter's case, when he got ahead of the monster, but you seem to have turned
into a dead end.
Storyteller (7:52:46 PM): (a Trap)
Peter (7:53:14 PM): He looked around "Huh?"
Kentarou (7:53:19 PM): "Oh shit."
Brian (7:53:41 PM): "Gaia's Blessing, this is bad..." Ben turned to look at the monster chasing after them.
Storyteller (7:53:57 PM): "THE HELL? There's no dead end in miles of here!" Arroyo yells, annoyed.
Adler (7:54:00 PM): "Yep, shoulda learned more about Space..."
Brian (7:54:17 PM): ((What's the weather like right now?))
Kentarou (7:54:20 PM): "Fighting it's not going to do any good... what the hell now?!"
Peter (7:54:41 PM): He blinked a bit. "Well...at least you're all ok!" He said with a confident and smug look plastered onto his face as he made a
dramatic act of sheathing his sword.
Storyteller (7:55:08 PM): (It's dark, cloudy. It could break into a storm any moment.)
Brian (7:55:57 PM): Brian's eyes flickered up, then back to the creature. "...we may not be able to defeat it, but I'll be damned if it insults Mother
Gaia by carrying that coffin." The cloudy gem on the end of
Kentarou (7:55:58 PM): Kenji looked at the, obviously, addled guy. "...We're not going to be OK for LONG. It's still COMING."
Storyteller (7:56:07 PM): When the thing turns into the dead end, it seems larger. Wider. More intimidating as it's nearly as wide as the alleyway.
Brian (7:56:12 PM): his staff sparked slightly. "I shall see what happens if I try to destroy it.
Peter (7:56:46 PM): "Still, with a strong wall to our backs we have a good fortified position to battle from." He drew his blade again, flourishing it a bit.
Kentarou (7:56:47 PM): "Better than nothing."
Storyteller (7:57:37 PM): The thing takes a pair of steps foreward.
Kentarou (7:57:51 PM): "Yeah, I ripped it's throat out earlier, it was fine. Be fucking terrified for a minute, all right?" Kenji started rifling through his
options... he supposed he could climb the wall with Arroyo attatched to his back...
Storyteller (7:57:53 PM): It's grinning, anticipating another kill.
Adler (7:58:10 PM): Adler scoots to the back of the group, her magic having proven to have little to no effect on the thing.
Brian (7:58:25 PM): ((roll JB?))
Storyteller (7:58:32 PM): (Sure)
Storyteller (7:59:04 PM): (It's acting last, so everyone knows)

Storyteller (8:01:35 PM): Go.
Adler (8:01:54 PM): ((out of curiosity, is there anything I can do that would have ANY effect?))
Kentarou (8:02:06 PM): Kenji just takes a low stance, ready to spring out of the way if the bastard tries anything.
Storyteller (8:02:10 PM): (Yes.)
Kentarou (8:02:15 PM): ((Defense action. Next.))
Adler (8:02:55 PM): ((...of course, I can't figure what in hell that thing is, so Defense as well.))
Peter (8:03:27 PM): (Spending a point of mana to trigger Accelerationf or the turn)
Peter (8:04:06 PM): A gallant grin on his face, he charged towards the beast, moving impossibly fast (speed 44) He brought his rapier back and low to the
ground before swinging it up and thrusting it into the beast
Peter (8:04:27 PM): (What's it's Defense? I have Aromor Piercing 1)
Storyteller (8:04:44 PM): (It's not defending)
Peter (8:04:51 PM): ((Kk))
Storyteller (8:04:53 PM): (It's just going to take it)

Storyteller (8:05:55 PM): (It takes full damage from the attack)
Peter (8:06:16 PM): ((kk))
Storyteller (8:06:48 PM): You bury your blade into the horrid beast, and blood spills out. Although, it doesn't seem to care. Infact, it's smiling wider now.
Peter (8:08:40 PM): ((Next?))
Storyteller (8:09:02 PM): (Raiden's next, then Arroyo, then the monster)
Brian (8:09:24 PM): ((Gonna use Call Lightning on the storm.))
Brian (8:09:43 PM): ((With a called attack on the Forces Coffin))
Storyteller (8:10:48 PM): (Roll, my good man. No penalty)
Brian (8:10:57 PM): ((Describing first...)) Brian (8:11:39 PM): Brian stabbed the end of his walking stick into the ground, through the rock and dirt, holding both hands onto the rustic steel, coalwood,
and inscribed gold. "Breath out, Mother Gaia...
Brian (8:12:19 PM): breath the life and death you give to your children..." The storm above broiled, electricity arcing downward toward the creature, striking
at the coffin with the Forces emblem etched into its surface.
OnlineHost (8:12:42 PM): Brian rolled 9 10-sided dice: 3 3 10 8 2 5 5 7 10
Brian (8:12:52 PM): ((do I get to re-roll twice now?))
Kentarou (8:13:00 PM): ((Yup))
Peter (8:13:04 PM): ((Hai, reroll 2 dice))
OnlineHost (8:13:07 PM): Brian rolled 2 10-sided dice: 7 2
Brian (8:13:21 PM): (4 pts of bashing electrical damage on the Forces coffin))
Kentarou (8:13:21 PM): ((Total of 3. =3))
Storyteller (8:13:32 PM): (Bad luck on the extra die)
Brian (8:13:34 PM): ((wait, I got 3 suxx?)
Brian (8:13:55 PM): ((...WOO! 6 pts of electrical bashing damage on the coffin!))
Brian (8:14:00 PM): ((I forgot that 10s still counted...))
Kentarou (8:14:07 PM): ((lol))
Storyteller (8:14:45 PM): The bolt crashes down on the coffin, then it starts orbiting the monster as it glows brightly. You can see the symbol for death
carved into it's body.
Kentarou (8:15:05 PM): "...There's the tenth arcanum..."
Storyteller (8:15:18 PM): Finally, the bolt comes to rest in it's hand, as a wicked looking blade.
Brian (8:15:23 PM): "...that's why we can't kill it. The coffin is INSIDE it!"
Kentarou (8:15:46 PM): "...Death makes it STRONGER?"
Storyteller (8:16:38 PM): Arroyo grins. "Do you think it would like a Master of Prime's Celestial Fire?"
Brian (8:17:05 PM): "No...the other Arcanum handle that...the coffins let it control magic itself! The Forces Coffin allowed it to control my lightning bolt
...Matter changed it...Death...Death keeps it alive."
Adler (8:17:06 PM): "Things rarely do."
Brian (8:17:47 PM): "If you can force it, my blind friend, we shall see how it reacts."
Storyteller (8:18:14 PM): "Well, I guess when we go see Abuelo, I'll mention that. But, let me try my hand at lighning, then."
Kentarou (8:18:18 PM): "We have whatever options we can think of right now... Go for it."
Storyteller (8:19:18 PM): He flicks off the monster. "Ye of detestable name and virtue. Get Fried!" he shouts as he flicks it off again.
OnlineHost (8:19:42 PM): Storyteller rolled 8 10-sided dice: 5 3 4 4 5 4 6 10
OnlineHost (8:19:48 PM): Storyteller rolled 1 10-sided die: 3
Storyteller (8:20:35 PM): His lightning is weaker than Brian's. It still does the same thing to the monster, only now the blade looks like a horror movie's cleaver.
Storyteller (8:20:41 PM): "Shit!"
Brian (8:21:10 PM): "...I think we can assume that lightning will not work, as much as it pains me."
Brian (8:21:18 PM): "No one else zap the monster, okay?"
Brian (8:21:26 PM): "Zapping is bad."
Storyteller (8:22:17 PM): "DIE! I'LL EAT YOUR SOUL, MAGE ARROYO!" the monster bellows.
Peter (8:22:44 PM): He blinked. "Cranky fellow aren't you?" He asked the beast
Adler (8:22:51 PM): "Is it just me, or is it getting more and more understandable?"
Storyteller (8:23:16 PM): It rushes foreward with the celerity of the lightning itself.
OnlineHost (8:23:23 PM): Storyteller rolled 15 10-sided dice: 8 8 4 2 9 8 2 1 1 1 9 2 6 3 8
Brian (8:23:35 PM): ((...yeah, you can fucking go to hell, Plentimon.))
Storyteller (8:24:03 PM): To make things worse, I took off a die.
OnlineHost (8:24:07 PM): Storyteller rolled 1 10-sided die: 6
Storyteller (8:24:54 PM): Not that it mattered much.
Storyteller (8:25:21 PM): But the thing zooms past everyone, and shanks Arroyo. He's down, bleeding, but not quite totally dead.
Brian (8:26:06 PM): Brian turned slowly, not fast enough to watch the creature zoom past. "Damn you...using my lightning for your own murdering..."
Storyteller (8:26:30 PM): "I'LL FEAST WELL, MAGE ARROYO!" It taunts.
Storyteller (8:26:47 PM): Next turn.
Peter (8:29:34 PM): (Sparda?)
Storyteller (8:29:36 PM): (Gah, AIMageddon)
Storyteller (8:31:11 PM): (Everyone back)
Storyteller (8:31:13 PM): ?
Peter (8:31:45 PM): ((You're the only one who got kicked)
Adler (8:31:55 PM): (SPAAARDA)
Storyteller (8:31:58 PM): (Wow.)
Adler (8:34:33 PM): ((someone poke Sparda))
Brian (8:38:43 PM): ((I did. No response.))
Adler (8:42:23 PM): ((....)
Kentarou (8:43:46 PM): ((I'm sorry, I've got to get going. Kenji is well behaved and will do what he's told. @__@))
Kentarou (8:43:55 PM): ((Bai bai! I love you all!))
Storyteller (8:43:58 PM): (Ok. Glad you could make it)
Brian (8:44:03 PM): ((later Sparda))
Peter (8:44:19 PM): (Baiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii)
Brian (8:44:30 PM): (No love for nacht)
Storyteller (8:44:36 PM): (I'm now picturing Kenji with a pan on his head and spoon in hand. He's saying he's a good boy.)
Peter (8:44:37 PM): (u.u,)
Peter (8:44:57 PM): (-now picturing Tobi from Naruto-
Brian (8:45:22 PM): ((Anyway, who's after Kenji?))
Peter (8:45:27 PM): (DS)
Adler (8:46:11 PM): Adler turns to look at the thing's back as it leaps past her, hoping to get a better look.
Storyteller (8:47:21 PM): It's right next to you, you can see the oily skin and the small lines on the mask.
Adler (8:48:02 PM): She scampers away, raking her mind for something, anything that might give them a way to stop this thing.
Storyteller (8:49:32 PM): The order of the coffin symbols from your side to the far side is Time, Space, Spirit, Mind, Matter, Life, Fate, Prime, Forces.
Storyteller (8:52:42 PM): (Am I still here?
Peter (8:52:55 PM): (Yes)
Peter (8:53:05 PM): (Me then? Or did you have more DS?)
Storyteller (8:53:12 PM): (Ok, just making sure.)
Adler (8:53:48 PM): (I got nothin...I can't think of something. I'm sure when it occurs or is explained I'll feel like an idiot)
Peter (8:54:44 PM): He ran at the monstrosity again, shouting loudly as he put all of his best efforts into attackign the beast
Peter (8:54:52 PM): (All-out attack, is it defending?)
Storyteller (8:54:56 PM): (Nope)
OnlineHost (8:55:03 PM): Peter rolled 10 10-sided dice: 8 7 8 3 3 5 4 7 6 9
Peter (8:55:10 PM): (3)
Storyteller (8:56:02 PM): It gets a matchin pair of holes in it's right hand, but it cares about nothing but killing Arroyo.
Peter (8:58:22 PM): (-hands the baton to Raiden-
Brian (8:58:44 PM): ((Deciding on what to do. Give me a sec.))
Brian (9:02:22 PM): ((Gonna cast an Improv.))
Brian (9:03:04 PM): The staff remained in the ground, Brian's eyes filled with anger. "Direct attacks do nothing...so I'll simply keep you away from
Arroyo." The cloudy gem on the walking stick gave a soft glow as
Brian (9:03:31 PM): the fungus in the area quickly bred and spread, popping up on the ground underneath the creature, making its footing slick and slippery
with fungal matter.
Brian (9:03:42 PM): ((Life Improv Spell. Gonna roll Gnos+Life))
OnlineHost (9:04:05 PM): Brian rolled 4 10-sided dice: 2 6 1 3
Brian (9:04:10 PM): ((And...get nothing.))
Storyteller (9:04:58 PM): As you weave the improvised spell, you can literally feel one of the coffins sucking it up.
Storyteller (9:05:35 PM): The Thing laughs. "LET ME SHOW YOU HOW TO USE FUGI! BOY!"
Peter (9:05:53 PM): "Fugi?"
Storyteller (9:06:33 PM): "YES, FUGI MUST DIE FOR HIS FAILURE!" The thing laughs at its own bad pun.
Storyteller (9:07:43 PM): It starts warping the fungi into some foul smelling thing, but then it snaps its head up. "DAMMIT! NO!" And runs off.
Brian (9:08:23 PM): "...it...must not like mushrooms..."
Peter (9:08:25 PM): "Do...do we chase it to finish it off?"
Storyteller (9:08:40 PM): As it departs, the dead end reverts to a open alleyway.
Brian (9:08:41 PM): "I'll give you a moment to get over your stupid. Then we leave."
Peter (9:09:29 PM): "I'm not stupid!" He stamped one foot down as he sheathed his sword. A small girlish giggle came from his shoulder. "Always so confident,
eh Peter?"
Storyteller (9:09:38 PM): Arroyo adds his pained gasps of wisdom to the conversation.
Adler (9:10:26 PM): "..." Adler grabs at the key hanging around her neck and casts 'Interconnections', just in case it might tell her something
Adler (9:11:05 PM): //roll-dice8-sides10
OnlineHost (9:11:06 PM): Adler rolled 8 10-sided dice: 1 5 9 2 7 7 2 2
Adler (9:11:17 PM): (...aaand that's why rotes are a good thing)
Brian (9:12:35 PM): Brian turned to look at Arroyo, the blind man's voice coming to him.
Peter (9:12:49 PM): (n.n I have Chicken Alfredo pizza)
Peter (9:13:37 PM): He walked up closer to the group, holding out one hand with a rougish grin on his face as he appraoached Adler in particular. "I don't
believe we were introduced before, m'name's Peter"
Peter (9:14:37 PM): (Striking looks 2 for reference)
Adler (9:14:50 PM): The teenager gives him a slightly shy smile, "Adler." Her eyes continue scanning the area as she absentmindedly shakes his hand
Peter (9:15:29 PM): He shook her hand with a firm, self-assured grip before turning to the other. "And the rest of you?"
Adler (9:15:43 PM): ((how old is he?))
Peter (9:16:05 PM): (He looks like he's between 15 and 17)
Adler (9:17:34 PM): (so, basically the same age then. Ok)
Storyteller (9:17:39 PM): "Ah, it looks like I'm too late." A weak sounding voice cuts in.
Peter (9:18:00 PM): He turned towards the new voice quickly
Storyteller (9:18:30 PM): It's a man in a checkerboard suite. He looks like he's a day or so away from death.
Storyteller (9:19:00 PM): "And here, I had hoped to see the monster in action."
Storyteller (9:20:45 PM): "Always too late to help."
Adler (9:21:17 PM): "Well...at least no one is dead..."
Peter (9:21:37 PM): "Quite true."
Storyteller (9:21:51 PM): "O~h! He's still alive?"
Storyteller (9:22:39 PM): "QUite the rarity."
Adler (9:23:15 PM): "Uhh...how does he look Bri?" she asks as she lets the spell fade, scooting out of the way.
Brian (9:25:26 PM): "He's hurting, but he'll live."
Storyteller (9:25:37 PM): "Did you protect him, or just find him?"
Brian (9:25:42 PM): "Might need a recovery spell or two later, when we get him somewhere more stabilized."
Peter (9:26:04 PM): "We protected him of course, wouldn' be right not to?" He spoke with a slight hint of a british accent.
Storyteller (9:26:27 PM): "You might have arrived too late..." he lets his words trail off.
Adler (9:26:57 PM): Oooh, that's cute. Adler taps one of her feet against the other.
Brian (9:27:27 PM): "Too late for what?"
Storyteller (9:27:41 PM): "To do anything substantial."
Storyteller (9:27:57 PM): "Sometimes the beast retreats if it is going to be seen."
Brian (9:28:23 PM): "We protected the blind man, and we know what we're up against...and what do you mean seen? By who? I'm pretty sure I saw enough of
the damned thing when it was trying to cut me open!"
Storyteller (9:29:24 PM): "It's odd. Sometimes, the beast will run from others. Once a sleeper. Another time, the mage's apprentice, who had arrived from
an errand out of town for her master.
Storyteller (9:30:10 PM): "So very little about the thing makes any sense."
Brian (9:30:20 PM): "...a sleeper, and an apprentice. Hmmm." Equan looked at his master, and Brian looked back. "Would we happen to know where these two are?"
Peter (9:31:06 PM): "Well there's a riddle if I ever heard one..." He raised a hand to his chin, his eyes closing halfway as he went deep into thought.
Storyteller (9:31:21 PM): "Yes. I searched out the sleeper, and the apprentice, I know her master."
Brian (9:32:02 PM): "Might we have a chance to meet them?"
Storyteller (9:32:42 PM): "Ah. Let us rescue Mr. Arroyo from the jaws of death, and then I shall tell you."
Peter (9:33:28 PM): "Indeed" He went over ot presumably help Bri give the old geezer a hand up and carry him out
Storyteller (9:34:27 PM): The old geezer is lucky to be alive. It's a large, deep cut that he's got in his side.
Brian (9:35:12 PM): "I can try to cure him, though I have no studied rotes in this field..."
Storyteller (9:35:33 PM): But, you manage to get him more or less vertical, and staggering forewards, ish.
Peter (9:36:07 PM): He quirked an eye at the survivalist. "Why don't we just take him to someone with a better idea of what they're doing?
Storyteller (9:36:43 PM): "Abuelo. He will definitely want to see Mr. Arroyo. And you all, also."
Storyteller (9:37:49 PM): "And his apprentice does know a bit about healing."
Brian (9:38:44 PM): "But before we do that...may we ask who YOU are, sir?"
Storyteller (9:39:18 PM): "I am Sejanus. I'm here at my ex student's behest."
Peter (9:39:59 PM): "Nice to meet you." He turned to Bri. "Shall we then? This guy could use help quick"
Storyteller (9:40:37 PM): Sejanus gets out a map and draws on it. "Instructions." He says, and shambles off.
Brian (9:41:44 PM): Brian watched him walk off, looking at the map. "...of course it would have been too much effort to lead us there."
Adler (9:41:58 PM): "Inevitably."
Storyteller (9:43:59 PM): The instructions are clear, rambling, and possibly the worst possible path to take.
Peter (9:44:13 PM): (Heh, my puppy just ate a jalapeno)
Storyteller (9:44:20 PM): Everyone roll wits+composure.
OnlineHost (9:44:28 PM): Peter rolled 6 10-sided dice: 7 4 6 9 3 6
OnlineHost (9:44:42 PM): Brian rolled 4 10-sided dice: 6 7 6 4
Adler (9:45:18 PM): //roll-dice6-sides10
OnlineHost (9:45:18 PM): Adler rolled 6 10-sided dice: 8 4 9 5 6 1
Peter (9:45:32 PM): ((1))
Storyteller (9:46:11 PM): Everyone notices two things a group of people across Waterstreet looking at you funny, and Peter's lack of a shadow.
Brian (9:46:38 PM): Brian looked at the group of people. "...could one of those Sleepers have frightened off the beast?"
Storyteller (9:47:15 PM): Probably not, Waterstreet's a bit away from the unreasonably dark alleway/
Peter (9:47:53 PM): Peter tilted his head as he watched the group of people staring oddly at him.
Storyteller (9:49:58 PM): They're also a bit drunk. But not unusually so for a Saturday Night.
Peter (9:50:22 PM): "What'd those louts think they were gawking at?"
Brian (9:50:41 PM): "Maybe it was the lack of shadow you have there?"
Peter (9:51:01 PM): He sighed. "Yeah, gotta get that fixed after I finqally catch up with Wendy."
Storyteller (9:52:59 PM): After a few more streets pass, you turn into an odd little alley way. There's a door that goes into the ground. It has
Storyteller (9:53:10 PM): "To Abuelo's" written on it.
Brian (9:53:34 PM): "I think this is the place."
Adler (9:54:06 PM): "Interesting..." Adler pauses, "I almost feel like I should have done something about those sleepers back there...oh well..."
Peter (9:54:46 PM): "Looks like it, let's get 'im down there"
Brian (9:54:55 PM): "They were drunk. They'll pass it off as a drunken vision in the morning." Storyteller (9:56:38 PM): When you get to the bottom of the stairs down, you see a sign hanging from the middle of the hallway. "See what our unity has wrought."
Brian (9:57:14 PM): "That's depressing."
Storyteller (9:58:17 PM): As you progress through the tunnel, it's basically a little museum dedicated to how the mages of the city have made short cuts that
make moving around the city much easier.
Storyteller (9:58:28 PM): You took one of them, in fact.
Adler (9:58:35 PM): "Huh..."
Peter (9:59:44 PM): He smiled in fascination as he took a good look at each piucture they passed. Cities always intruiged him with how they were put together.
Storyteller (9:59:55 PM): At the very end, there's a door. Abuelo's office, it reads.
Brian (10:01:07 PM): "So, who's going to knock?"
Adler (10:01:48 PM): Adler looks at the exibits long enough to memorize them for later reference.
Adler (10:04:15 PM): "Not it." she states distractedly
Peter (10:04:37 PM): She shrugged, reaching out one hadn to rap his knuckles on the door
Storyteller (10:05:07 PM): The door opens as you knock on it.
Storyteller (10:05:57 PM): There's a rather empty looking recptionist's area there.
Storyteller (10:06:06 PM): You can hear snoring from inside.
Peter (10:06:24 PM): "Ummm....hello?"
Brian (10:06:35 PM): "God...like we need this today."
Storyteller (10:06:38 PM): Still snoring.
Storyteller (10:07:01 PM): The receptionist is passed out, sleeping, at her desk.
Peter (10:07:47 PM): "Oi! Get up and help this guy why don'tcha?!"
Adler (10:08:00 PM): Adler looks for some sort of bell, but can't see much from her spot at the back of this mob.
Storyteller (10:08:19 PM): "ZZZ SHNRK. Wha? Wha?" she sorta asks, very sleepy.
Brian (10:10:05 PM): Brian rapped his ornate walking staff against the floor, making a loud knocking noise. "We have an injured man. We were told to take
him to Abuelo."
Storyteller (10:11:07 PM): "NA*YAWN*H. I can do that easy. Donead to wake him up." She replies and walks over to the injured man.
Brian (10:11:42 PM): "We were told to take him to Abuelo."
Brian (10:11:48 PM): "Not Abuelo's secretary."
Storyteller (10:12:21 PM): "Fine, fine. I'll send him a wake up, but I'm still going to at least look him over."
Storyteller (10:12:41 PM): She hits a buzzer and then looks over Mr. Arroyo. "My, this looks bad.
Brian (10:12:51 PM): "He was stabbed by electricity made solid."
Storyteller (10:13:06 PM): "Za hell?"
Peter (10:13:46 PM): "Yeah, lightning wasn't on our friend's side today"
Storyteller (10:14:31 PM): She gets out some stitches and puts a blood pack up to an IV. "Wanna explain what happned?"
Brian (10:15:17 PM): "A beast with nine coffins, and the image of Death imprinted on his body. He tried to kill him."
Storyteller (10:15:52 PM): "Fuck. And he's alive? Not just a zombie waiting to pounce?"
Adler (10:15:54 PM): "Well, its more complicated than that, really, but that's an adaquate summary, I suppose..."
Storyteller (10:17:41 PM): "So, he survived IT, eh?" a grandfatherly voice cuts in.
Brian (10:18:34 PM): "He survived a direct hit, but we all managed to escape it."
Storyteller (10:18:59 PM): And in walks a man that looks like he could be any town elder in a spaghetti western.
Storyteller (10:20:24 PM): "Heh. So. Mr. Arroyo. You live to make another deal, eh?" the old man asks, rhetorically.
Adler (10:21:43 PM): "I wonder, if I reduced the entirety of life to a series of novels, would the ending turn out better, or worse?" Adler ponders this
abstraction for about...three seconds, perhaps
Storyteller (10:22:11 PM): He rather prosaiclly taps his fingers on the desk a few times, then says. "He'll live to heal and make many more deals."
Peter (10:22:19 PM): He turned back. "Worse, because everyone would want to skip to it and see the meaning, without finding everything along the way to
understand it first"
Brian (10:22:32 PM): ((Alrighty))
Peter (10:22:46 PM): "Well, goiod to hear the old chap'll live."
Storyteller (10:23:17 PM): "So, could you tell me how, exactly, this happened. It's rare to get such resistant wounds."
Peter (10:23:49 PM): "Well, it's rare to get stabbed by a bolt of lightning too a'int it?"
Storyteller (10:24:13 PM): "Indeed. Moreso now that Tio Hector is dead."
Brian (10:24:36 PM): "The beast. He seems to want to kill Arroyo and...Tio Hector?"
Adler (10:24:57 PM): "Wha?"
Storyteller (10:25:19 PM): "Ah that monster. He has claimed many of us. Tio Hector, was his shadow name. He was the beast's first Mage victim."
Brian (10:25:52 PM): "And Tio Hector could turn lightning into swords?"
Storyteller (10:26:19 PM): "He was known for turning things in general into swords or guns of some sort.
Storyteller (10:26:43 PM): His collection is still around, put on display, as was his wish."
Brian (10:26:49 PM): Brian rubbed at his chin, Equan giving a small caw, like the sound of thunder filling the room.
Adler (10:26:52 PM): "Why do I get the horrible feeling that that THING is absorbing the powers of whatever it kills."
Brian (10:27:05 PM): "...the coffins."
Brian (10:27:10 PM): "That's what's in the coffins."
Peter (10:27:19 PM): He turned to Adler, cocking a brow. "Now that sounds frightening..."
Storyteller (10:27:25 PM): "Then with Arroyo it would have the last remaining master of fate around."
Brian (10:27:46 PM): "It already has a Fate coffin, though."
Brian (10:27:55 PM): "...but it may not be full."
Storyteller (10:28:10 PM): "Hard to believe."
Storyteller (10:28:33 PM): "But let us sit and drink. My office is more comfortable than the waiting room."
Storyteller (10:29:47 PM): He leaves the door open for you to follow."
Brian (10:30:26 PM): Brian walks in behind him, his walking stick tapping on the floor.
Peter (10:31:24 PM): He gestured ahead of himswelf. "After you Miss Adler"
Adler (10:32:10 PM): "Yessir." ^_^ Scoot. Scoot. Scoot.
Peter (10:32:44 PM): He followed her in, shutting the door behind him.
Storyteller (10:33:37 PM): It's a fairly well decorated office, nice, large, and sporting several prominant bits of boxing and baseball memoribilia.
Storyteller (10:35:19 PM): There are seveal comfy chairs around the big desk.
Brian (10:37:26 PM): Brian took one of the chair, settling in while Equan roosted on the back of the chair.
Peter (10:38:14 PM): Peter went and sat into one, allowing himself to sink into it. He cupped his hands in his lap, allowing Tink to flutter down into them
Adler (10:39:04 PM): Adler plops down into another one. She doesn't have a familiar.
Peter (10:39:21 PM): (awww -huggles Adler-)
Adler (10:39:28 PM): (( XDDD))
Storyteller (10:39:32 PM): "So, you met the beast. And managed to survive. Very impressive."
Brian (10:39:32 PM): ((No one loves Adler.))
Brian (10:39:40 PM): "More like it ran away."
Peter (10:39:41 PM): (-Takes Adler to the Pet Store-)
Peter (10:40:12 PM): "I still think we could'a taken it. We had better numbers, and if you poke enough holes in anythign it'll fall apart."
Storyteller (10:40:41 PM): "The problem is that it doesn't tend to stay dead if you can poke that many holes in it."
Adler (10:40:44 PM): ((it takes 20 xp to buy an embodied familiar. As much as Adler really should have a kitty, I can't afford that at the moment))
Brian (10:41:10 PM): "Did it look like it cared about the holes you put in it? It had the sign of death. We can't kill it. Not yet, anyhow..."
Adler (10:41:21 PM): "Not to mention the fact that I was proving pretty much useless...."
Peter (10:41:41 PM): "If I wrote death on your forehead and you acted like a tough guy who didn't care, would you be any less likely to die if I kept cutting you?"
Storyteller (10:41:45 PM): "Symbol of death you say?"
Brian (10:42:15 PM): "No. But then again, I haven't killed several powerful mages, and a wide assortment of powerful supernatural creatures, INCLUDING Vampire Elders."
Storyteller (10:42:31 PM): "And an Archmage."
Brian (10:42:37 PM): "And yes. It was surrounded by nine coffins, each having a different symbol of Arcana. Except for the Arcana of Death. That was inscribed
on its body."
Storyteller (10:43:20 PM): "You are certain?"
Adler (10:43:27 PM): "Time, Space, Spirit, Mind, Matter, Life, Fate, Prime, Forces. Or perhaps that in reverse order."
Brian (10:43:54 PM): "Very certain. The Forces coffin took my lightning bolt, and turned it into a sword. I know lightning, sir. I know it very well."
Peter (10:44:17 PM): He sudenly felt very much liek a fish out of water. Somthign vaguely remeniscent of concealed pouting was on his normally proud face.
Adler (10:44:20 PM): ((Inner!Adler: "Shocking"))
Storyteller (10:44:28 PM): "..." The man's a bit speechless.
Storyteller (10:45:38 PM): "And I was certain..." he just trails off.
Adler (10:45:41 PM): "I expect that there is either a clue to the thing's nature or the solution to its defeat in that, or perhaps both..."
Storyteller (10:45:55 PM): He looks rather shaken.
Adler (10:46:25 PM): "You were certain of what, sir?"
Storyteller (10:47:18 PM): "Well, a few of us knew about the existance of body mark and the coffins. But the one that we first fought had fate for the body."
Storyteller (10:47:38 PM): "We didn't know what the coffins were for or why the arcana were there."
Brian (10:48:15 PM): "Fate for the body?"
Brian (10:48:23 PM): "Did that body die?"
Storyteller (10:48:49 PM): "Not as such. It was seen one more time, when it killed the Vampire Elder."
Storyteller (10:50:00 PM): "This is concerning. It could be able to change it's nature. Or, more frighteningly, there may be more than one."
Adler (10:50:08 PM): "Perhaps, in its interaction with the Elder, it absorbed some energies relating to the Arcanum of Death..."
Storyteller (10:51:07 PM): "That is the more comforting thought."
Peter (10:52:04 PM): "Or perhaps there's a different one for each of those arcana-thingies, thatr sounds like the better bet..." He grimmaced a bit.
Storyteller (10:52:29 PM): "I'd really rather not think of the possiblity of ten of them, thank you."
Brian (10:52:44 PM): "Especially not ten of them with coffins as often."
Adler (10:52:59 PM): "It seems unlikly, in any case, since only one of them has appeared at any one time, as far as we know."
Storyteller (10:53:52 PM): "But if there were more than one, it would easily explain the ability to kill targets miles apart without any detected
use of space magic or the tunnels.
Brian (10:53:56 PM): "Or...hmmm...did anyone see a Fate coffin when there was a Fate body?"
Adler (10:54:32 PM): "Actually...didn't we see some sort of portal?"
Storyteller (10:54:34 PM): "The fate coffin appeared in all three of the battles with the Archmage."
Adler (10:55:25 PM): "Or something? I couldn't see it, I don't have the right understandings to enhance my perceptions in that way."
Adler (10:56:07 PM): Adler [strike]reads the log[/strike] goes back over events in her mind.
Storyteller (10:56:34 PM): (Hee. Best breaking of the fourth wall yet.)
Brian (10:56:58 PM): "Damn...I was thinking that each coffin was holding a different body for it to use. But if it was there with a Fate body, then it makes no sense."
Storyteller (10:58:07 PM): "Well, it had to start somewhere. And the local Banishers seem to be laying quite low. Perhaps it got one of them first?
Brian (10:59:05 PM): "That's something to look at...also, I'm interested in these people it runs from. I'd like to meet them. Find out more about them.
See what they have in common."
Adler (10:59:51 PM): "Ken said that it came out of a massive, gaping hole in creation on the far side of the gauntlet, and that all the spirits around where it
emerged were dying."
Storyteller (11:00:23 PM): "Uhh. Well, there's my apprentice, Mrs. D, and some girl named..." he shuffles some papers around. "Wendy."
Peter (11:01:21 PM): His head immediately perked up and he practically burst from his seat into a standing position, Tink falling off and looking very itrritated
as she fluttered around him making faces.
Peter (11:01:28 PM): "Wendy? What about Wendy?"
Storyteller (11:02:03 PM): "All four of the girls present the first time it ran away were named Wendy."
Brian (11:02:22 PM): "...and the name of your secretary is..."
Peter (11:02:24 PM): He slumped back into his seat, looking a bit crestfallen.
Storyteller (11:02:43 PM): "Her Shadow name is Mrs. D."
Storyteller (11:03:00 PM): "Her real name is not Wendy, if that's what you are asking."
Brian (11:03:10 PM): "Damn. I suppose it couldn't have been that easy."
Storyteller (11:03:41 PM): "We also tried groups of four people with the same name. That was less than successful."
Peter (11:03:54 PM): "There were four Wendies all in one place at one time? What are the chances?"
Storyteller (11:04:24 PM): "Considering that they all are students at the same college, with simular schedules, not that bad."
Brian (11:04:40 PM): Brian scratched at his chin some more, the stubble making his skin itch. "...students."
Peter (11:04:41 PM): -sigh-
Brian (11:04:53 PM): "You said Mrs. D was your apprentice? Your...student?"
Storyteller (11:05:02 PM): "Why so glum, boy? And yes, she is."
Brian (11:05:12 PM): "Was the student path looked into?"
Adler (11:05:26 PM): "The possibility of that being the answer seems implausibly thin..."
Peter (11:05:32 PM): "Just looking for someone named Wendy, didn't think it' dbe that hard to find her..."
Storyteller (11:05:49 PM): "Yes. It was oddly successful, but only on accident."
Brian (11:06:07 PM): "Accidental success? How?"
Peter (11:06:32 PM): "That's a funny thing to say..." He looked at brian. "Like he said."
Storyteller (11:06:40 PM): "Two of them were identical twins, and mages. They both survived."
Storyteller (11:07:43 PM): "It was deemed an accidental success as there aren't enough identical twins around for it to be adequate protection."
Brian (11:08:07 PM): Brian rubbed his forehead. "There's something here. Some kind of link. We just don't have nearly enough information."
Adler (11:08:54 PM): ((we really like to make with the yakyak...XD))
Storyteller (11:08:54 PM): "Yes. We'd been beating ourselves up thinking the same thing. You won't mind if all this is added to our little research
section on the thing, would you?"
Brian (11:09:31 PM): "Go ahead."
Peter (11:10:00 PM): "Why don't you get someone to tail it?"
Storyteller (11:10:02 PM): "I will also have some passes made for you in the next few days. Now, unless you have anything else?"
Peter (11:10:17 PM): "Passes?"
Storyteller (11:10:29 PM): "Yes, to access the research."
Storyteller (11:10:40 PM): "And we have tried. Each one was killed."
Adler (11:10:43 PM): "NOW we're talking."
Adler (11:11:12 PM): Adler visibly brightens at the idea of having more data to work from.
Peter (11:11:48 PM): He sighed. "I'm not a big book-person..."
Storyteller (11:11:51 PM): "But do becareful with the purple book, when you are reserching."
Brian (11:12:17 PM): Brian's head was hurting. He didn't like to think this much. "Thanks, though I think I'll do better communing with Gaia. She knows all
answers. Just depends on how you ask."
Storyteller (11:12:51 PM): "Asking the questions the right way. The Archmage was obsessed with that."
Adler (11:13:24 PM): "Its a good way to look at things, I should think."
Storyteller (11:14:06 PM): He writes out a pass on a piece of paper. "This is a temporary pass. It will get you in and out once."
Brian (11:14:21 PM): "And this...creature. It takes her breath, and twists it. I cannot allow that to pass. She will answer her son...though it may take a
while." Brian stood up from his chair, Equan alighting up onto his shoulder again.
Storyteller (11:14:24 PM): "Just write your name on it."
Peter (11:15:25 PM): He reached otu to take it, it could be useful to have sometime. "Can I borrow your pen?"
Storyteller (11:15:43 PM): "It's hidden on the third floor of the Del Mar Library. Just ask one of the student librarians for the Water Margin book."
Storyteller (11:15:50 PM): He nods in the affirmative.
Peter (11:16:21 PM): He took the pen, scribbling in untidy and loopy letters his name before handing the pen back.
Adler (11:16:23 PM): "All of us can get in, correct?"
Storyteller (11:16:45 PM): "As long as all of you write your names, yes."
Peter (11:16:58 PM): He passed the paper over to Adler
Storyteller (11:17:10 PM): "And I'll get more permanant, individual ones for each of you by tomorrow or the day after."
Adler (11:17:29 PM): She scribbles her shadow name down, and passes it over to Brian.
Brian (11:18:11 PM): Brian looked down at the paper. "...Equan." The hawk opened its beak, a small flash of lightning shooting from its mouth and striking
the paper, leaving a blackened shape in the Atlantean word for Brian's shadow name.
Brian (11:18:36 PM): He looked at the others. "...I don't like to write."
Peter (11:19:32 PM): "Ummm....K...." He looked over. "Does Tink need to sign this too?"
Storyteller (11:19:52 PM): "I don't think so. No other familiar has."
Peter (11:20:37 PM): "Who ya callin' a familiar?!" The small pixie said indignantly. "I'm jus' keepin' an eye on him." The fairy, it seemed, had an
almost foul brooklyn accent
Brian (11:20:51 PM): Equan cawed at the fairy.
Peter (11:20:56 PM): Peter just blushed a little at his friend's outburst.
Storyteller (11:20:57 PM): "Ah. My apologies."
Brian (11:21:07 PM): Setting its position as the dominant familiar, as most forms of a lightning bolt are apt to do.
Storyteller (11:22:09 PM): "Then just to be safe, you should also sign the paper. Miss?
Peter (11:22:11 PM): She made a rather nasty face at the lightning-bird
Peter (11:22:40 PM): She fluttered over, grabbing the pen and using it as best as she could to scrawl tinkerbell in disporportionate letters
Storyteller (11:23:01 PM): "Ah. Thank you."
Peter (11:24:56 PM): "So...do you need anythign else, or can we go?" He seemed a bit anxious to leave since his companion's fit.
Storyteller (11:24:59 PM): "Now you can rest up, or I can call someone to let you in to the library. Your choice."
Brian (11:25:34 PM): "I will take my leave to the wilderness for a few hours. Commune with Gaia. Recharge and see what she has to say."
Peter (11:25:57 PM): He turned to Adler. "Well then will you be going ot the library, or may I escort you home?"
Adler (11:26:39 PM): "I...should probabaly go home, at least for a while, otherwise my folks would flip, I suspect."
Peter (11:27:18 PM): He stood up and offered her a hand. "Then allow me the honor of seeing a fair lass home"
Adler (11:28:55 PM): Blush. "Ahh...ok." she takes the offered hand.
Brian (11:29:09 PM): Brian gave a huff. "Kids these days."
Peter (11:29:37 PM): He smiled. Before he turned with a sour expression on his face. "It's the proper thing to do, and if you had an ounce of chivalry
in you you'd have offered the same before I did"
Storyteller (11:29:45 PM): "Ah. I remember the days when that was my daughter."
Peter (11:30:36 PM): He let go of Adler's hand and put both of his in his pockets, not lookintg directly at her. "You'll have to lead the way, I don't
know this area." Adler (11:31:04 PM): Adler pulls her hat down tighter on her head, covering her very, very red ears. "Sure."
Storyteller (11:31:25 PM): "If you take a left just outisde the door, you can get to the connection point of all the tunnels."
Adler (11:32:04 PM): ((Was there a map in all of that history?))
Storyteller (11:32:20 PM): (Yep.)
Adler (11:34:45 PM): ((So I can get home pretty easy from here. Ok.)) "Thanks..." she starts to go, then pauses, "When are we meeting again?"
Adler (11:34:48 PM): "And where?"
Storyteller (11:35:42 PM): 'You'll have to hit Del Mar's library by two at the latest. 8 A.M. at the earliest."
Brian (11:37:33 PM): "We'll meet at 8 am tomorrow. Until then, you can find me somewhere in the forest." Brian turned and headed for the door.
Peter (11:38:18 PM): He sighed. "You need me to come too I take it?"
Storyteller (11:39:08 PM): "You don't have to, but if you don't we can't be held responsible for your possible horrid, screaming death." Mrs. D chimes in.
Peter (11:39:51 PM): He swallowed hard. "Gee...aren't you pleasant?" He turned to Tink. "You two woudl get along, eh?" The pixie just laught a bit mean-spiritedly
Adler (11:40:09 PM): "It might be helpful. And we might find something to help you, in any case." Adler gives a little encouraging smile.
Peter (11:40:28 PM): He smiled back. "Well, between teh two, I guess I can make it."
Adler (11:42:31 PM): "Well, I should probably get headed home..."
Peter (11:44:14 PM): "Yeah,a nd afte rI drop you off I need to fdind a good spot to crash, so let's go" He grinned
Adler (11:45:07 PM): "Hmm..." Adler leads the way off though the tunnels.
Peter (11:45:42 PM): He followed. Once or twice he tried to take the lead, but he'd always end up turnign the wrong way and letting Adler take the lead again
Adler (11:49:08 PM): ((Timeskip ahead to the next day?))
Storyteller (11:49:15 PM): As Peter leaves the site of Adler's home and she goes in, a figure walks out of the shadows. "My , that was extremely fortituous.
Had I not been late, I would have been discovered."
Storyteller (11:49:31 PM): (Next Day.)
