The Chronicles of Allandria

Or, Monarchy: Winds of War

For decades, the kingdom of Allandria waged war against its neighbor, Arktfar. The two nations trained knights and put weapons into the hands of peasants, throwing men against each other in battle after bloody battle. Arktfar was the greater military power, but Allandria had advantage in magical knowledge and adventurous spirit.

In time, the leaders of those nations saw the fruitlessness of their struggle. If victory did ever come for one of them, the damaged land would hardly be worth claiming. So they signed treaties, and made peace between them for some years, trying to rebuild what had been lost in war.

But from the far corners of Arktfar came a startling new threat. The manor De'Thuin, home to a rich and powerful Arktfarian noble family, crumbled suddenly into darkness and plague. Disease spread through that kingdom like fire in dry woods, and its citizens died by the thousands. Worse, those victims, unburied and without funeral, began to rise again as the shambling undead. De'Thuin became known as "Deathwind," and that black air dragged once mighty Arktfar down into ruin.

Allandria shut its borders, alarmed at its new ally's rapid decline, and fearful of plague. Rumors spread of a dark intelligence directing the undead horde, a skeletal sorcerer bearing the De'Thuin name. If Deathwind could bring destruction so quickly to Arktfar, who battled Allandria to a standstill for so many years, surely Allandria could soon be next!

In desperation, King Xavier of Allandria gathered the wisest, fiercest, and most adventurous souls from all corners of the kingdom, and charged them with this task: save Allandria! Some chose to aid by diplomacy, traveling as ambassadors to other kingdoms, even to strange races of elves and monsters. Others chose an arcane search, exploring ruined places of power to find spells and artifacts that could turn the tide. And still others drew their blades to meet the enemy head-on, battling the undead wherever they crept near.

Will you heed the call? What skill and glory can you bring to a kingdom on the brink of destruction?
