Yang - 5'2 (click for more detail)

Always tied into two piggy tails slightly behind her ears, Yang is the owner of dull black shoulder-length hair. An uneven fringe layers itself down from sitting above her coffee brown eyes, to the bottom of her chin. Her exterior should be a clear enough warning of her childish behavior as she stands cheerfully at 5’2’’. Because her power demands the use of energy, you may see her sitting in front of a loaded lunch tray in the cafeteria.

Although she has a speedy metabolism, Yang is neither slender nor willowy. Instead, round hamster-like cheeks, and squat fingers seem to have preserved her youth. A childish pout is usually seen in place of annoyance, frustration or confusion, her feelings often clearly illustrated with her hands. There always seems to be some sort of smile on her childish face, and even if it manages to disappear for a moment, it will surely return.

When not in her school uniform it is very hard to predict what Yang will wear next because she tends to mix and match her clothing constantly. Even though her wardrobe is limited, the sheep somehow manages to get things to look the slightest bit different the next time you see her out of uniform. Whether it be folding one side up and one side down, or the hats (which she owns countless numbers of)… Yang will look different from the last time you saw her.

Personality

Simply saying that this girl is just a little immature is a dramatic understatement. Where Hitler was a megalomaniac, Yang would be the spitting image of the boy who never grew up. Despite her age, her actions and behavior are dictated by her ‘Peter Pan’ complex. What’s more is that her unnaturally short mass and young mind has a childish voice to match. An attempt to guess her age purely on sight and observation would result with numbers around the age of 10.

Though she is quick to become distracted and can appear to be a little lost 24/7, Yang is a determined and surprisingly thoughtful learner - granted her mind doesn’t get sidetracked first. With an extra effort, Yang excels in many subjects (Math, English, Humanities ect.) although sadly, Physical education isn't one of them. A simple explanation for this is that her hand-eye co-ordination skills could barely surpass that of a drunken sailor.

No matter how much she may depend on the people around her Yang is very weak at reading people's faces, thoughts and true emotions and her Achilles heel would be the inability to put two and two together.

Lying to this girl would be as easy as pie. If you were to tell her, "the sky is blue because birds like that color and decided to paint it like that," Yang's reply would be, "but where do they get all the paint?" ... No doubt she is a very gullible person. Perhaps this is because her thoughts tend to dwell more on the words that are spoken, rather than the words that aren't.

Naivety and ignorance will occasionally get the best of her more bubbly and cheery side (and whatever shred of common sense she might have), although happiness is something she looks forward to seeing in everyone she meets. If the situation called for it, she would get it her all to get somebody smiling again. Yang often enjoys the company of one's laughter purely because she sees it as a gesture of joy, and never sadness. Yang is generally a grinning, cheery, klutzy, stereotypical high school girl.

Special Powers/Weapons

Energy manipulation

It is unknown to Yang, but complications in her cells account for this ability. When extra energy is needed in her hands, she has the ability to focus or move the energy from around her body to that one location. Aimed to increase energy, the speed and velocity in movements slightly increase. When that concentration of energy mounts up to an amount too over bearing for her hands, it is then released in the form of ‘green fire.’ An illuminating flame like aura, dancing up the path of her fore-arm.

This power rapidly requires energy to hold out, and once it gets to the stage of releasing that energy, there isn’t much hope for Yang to stay conscious. In a minute or two, the sheep would be out like a light.</br>

Rewritable cells (not acknowledged yet)

The way this works is instead of her cells only interacting with materials inside her body, they are able to send impulses to an outside party if they come into physical contact with Yang (I.e. hugging, hitting.) and basically communicate with another being’s material (skin cells, hair, blood ect.), similar to how pen pals would – sending messages back and fourth.

For example, if she were to pet a cat frequently, over time, her cells would receive information, and may decide that a kitty cat’s super sensitive ears or sharp retractable claws are in favor to Yang’s survival needs. At this point, a request for the genetic blueprints, otherwise known as, DNA.

((The other party/character may not be aware of these happenings on a conscious level, but through the wonderful world of pms, the roleplayer can agree or disagree and be aware that Yang will be adopting a physical characteristic of their character.))

From here, her body can begin to take on the construction of this new enhancement. They may alter existing materials (I.e. change human fingernails into retractable cat claws) or build a new set of claws altogether.

On a condition of, what could be days, weeks, or months; her body will almost neglect itself by only focusing on the site of construction. In this period of time, Yang is left vulnerable to viruses and bugs. More importantly, pain receptors at major points of the body become far more sensitive than usual that the slightest impact causes the unpleasant sensation of pain to multiply severely. An attempt for a high security-warning system instead, leaves the girl temporarily feeling extremely weak and brittle.

Note: Although Yang can gain a new enhancement, she only gains it on a genetic level. That may mean that skills necessary to operate it won’t come with package (In most cases she will have to LEARN how to use the enhancement), and that magical and spiritual powers cannot be replicated for Yang. Not only is she not aware of this ability yet, but her cells will only decide to replicate something if it has a functional advantage to Yang. This way, another person’s whole identity is not so readily stolen.

Enhancements:

Hardened skin

(adopted from Daichi-su's Golden fleece ability) (*Not acknowledged yet)

After being rescued from the lake by clinging to a golden sheep’s fleece for dear life, Yang’s cells picked up a more efficient defense for her body – hardened skin. The way this should work is that when Yang is surprised, shocked, feels threatened or scared, instinct will kick in and a hard, yet malleable substance will begin to cover each individual skin cell. BAM! Instant shield.

The substance makes the skin thicker and stronger, perhaps the strength of granite. So I’d imagine that it would hurt the average person to hit a rock hard surface. Hmm just to make sure..... Try bashing her a coupler times with a metal bar and find out...?

What’s more is this mystery substance can be broken down into a form of energy and will be able to add a little more fuel her current energy manipulation ability. Although it may take less than a second to fully cover her body, Yang cannot force or will this substance to coat her skin cells - it works more like a primitive reflex, primarily when her heart is racing at it’s fastest and adrenaline is rushing through her body.

Training note: no progress made on controlling these effects. Still not strong enough to move freely while skin cells are coated.

MYSTORY

Some people say that if you make a wish on a falling star it will come true. My parents wished. They prayed. My father sought help from the city. My mother did everything in her power to bear me in her womb. The shooting star shot many people on my behalf. Because many people didn’t want me to live on, many people thought it was wrong of my parents to give birth to a child like me, especially at their age.

I could hear them all in the outside world. Arguing, shouting, screaming, the only time there was peace seemed to be when I could hear my mother breathing softly in and out, and a strange sound that went, “hoot, hoot” through the whistling breeze in the branches. And I would wish to myself ‘please let me out of here, give me a chance to see what goes ‘hoot hoot’ or touch the howling branches of a tree. Please let me see my mother’s face.’ .... Oh? But perhaps wishing isn’t enough. My family took action to fulfill their desires... I have to too... I must...

Before such debate could end, Yang was born prematurely to a pair of elderly farmers on the 16th day of the fourth month - in the year of the sheep. So perhaps it was only logical to call her Yang, sheep. Despite Yang’s parents being a healthy pair of matured adults, the challenge of raising Yang to this point took a so much out of them that a misfortunate incident involving farmyard pests and the excessive loss of livestock meant they could no longer succeed in their duty to care for her.

In such desperation, they reached out for the help of their first child, Yang’s older sibling, Ren. A strong, lively, intelligent business woman, if you will. And I use that title loosely because not to her parent’s knowledge, they’d just sent Yang off into the care of a trained assassin. Coincidently, she was involved in the murders of Doctor Dao Feng, and Mr. Slader. But of course you wouldn’t recognize these names. They were very big in their respective surreptitious organizations – Very secret men deserved very secret deaths. Does that explain why you’re not familiar with them? Right, moving on.

In any case, perhaps Ren wanted to keep the girl’s mind innocent, or maybe she feared that a child’s thoughtless babbling could reach the wrong ears. What ever the reason, she made sure that Yang had as little exposure to the world around her as possible. Hence, Life was simple in Yang’s early years. Go to school, come home from school. The sheep saw very little of her sister, that woman rarely came home during the day and in the odd instances that she did, she would rush upstairs to her room as the young mind sat innocently and watched.

Because of this, Yang was a child who never questioned much, and always did as she was told. Such innocence meant that one fateful night could have not been avoided. A birthday present was all it was, (the caretaker had gone and tipped Yang off about birthdays and jazz) so it was decided, a small folded paper star to grace her sister with once she returned home. Hours where spent waiting behind that large door, waiting to shout of “Happy birthday” and be off to a good night’s rest. The clock inched its hand towards the smaller hours of the morning before Yang’s drowsy form perked up at the sound of a key driving into the lock. Click.

“Happy Bir-” but shock stopped her voice from finishing as her eyes darted to the bloody hand on the door knob. “Jie-Ren...” ‘jie’ meaning older sister. “Why is your hand red?” The wishing star dropped right out of her own hand and landed on the floor. Ren’s lips pursed into a straight line as she stared sombrely down at little Yang. As though debating whether to lie to her or not. The corners of her mouth twitched before she lunged out in a sudden burst of emotion. Dropping to her knees and wrapping her stained arms around Yang’s small form the woman’s face scrunched up in a wounded way.
“Yang. Xiao.. Yang. You have to understand. Before I tell you any more, you have to.. to... understand.”
“Do I understand yet?”
“No Yang, you will. You must.”
“Understand what? Why are your hands red?”
There was a long pause as though for once in her life she was actually struggling to find the right words to use. Although... it seemed simple enough...
“Yang. I kill people.”
“What is kill? Why do people have to be killed?”
Another pause. “People die for our... people die for the greater good.”
“Greater... good.” Yang repeated, as though running it through her head. It was a moment before realization would spread across her face. It would be before her eyes widened and fear took over. “You.. You..”
“Xiao Yang! Please don’t hate me! please don’t be angry with me.. please you can’t see why.. you can’t see why I do this... I wish I could tell you but-”

But as Ren continued her plea, Yang had slipped out from the woman’s grasped and picked up the small 3 dimension star she’d folded before a small voice would whisper through the hall way.
“I wish you would visit mom and dad. I wish you would make friends and I wish you could take me out to meet them sometimes.” She began walking back to her sister, “Lots of people have someone to look out for them. I’ll bet heaps of people who are dead still have people to pray for them, but what about you?” and then she handed the small star into Ren’s hand. “I will always pray for you. But is that enough?”

Ren stared at Yang for a moment, at first not sure about what was being asked of her, but then just went her face took on an expression of sadness, a smile curled from her lips. “Yang, no matter what happens, you are, and have always been the reason why I’m still here today. I’m here to protect you.” And before Yang could think anymore about what was being said, tears leaked from Ren’s formerly ice cold eyes. “I’m glad you’re here to protect me too.”

From then on, Ren resigned from her job and took the career path of accounting. Although life was certainly more exciting than before, the years that passed on flew by in a blur. Yang would remember peculiar sounds such as the whirring engine of a motorcycle but no matter how much she tried to recall it was no use. Regardless, life was moving forward, and she wasn’t going to try and live in the past. Yang eventually made friends in school, life was well... normal. That was until Ren handed her heart out to a man named Peter. He shot it. Literally.

Well.. he sort of missed and hit her arm, but none the less, he would’ve left the scene of the crime and her to bleed to death, if it weren’t for the feeble intervention of a young girl. He had placed the gun in her mouth before muttering words along the lines of “She had it coming.” But after an earsplitting ‘BANG’ filled the room, the murderous man was gob smacked to see that the gun had been knock out of his hand and an illuminated glow of green covering the girl’s face. He stood there gaping in awe before sirens bellowed through the windows. Jacob fled.

Yang had no idea what came over her, but whatever it was, it saved her life.

The last sounds she heard was the thunderous knocking on the door down stairs and her sister barely call out her name before all went black. She woke up to find a peculiarly familiar man in a suit and tie, sitting by the side of her bed. Upon noticing her arrival back to earth, he immediately began prattling on in a foreign language. His words of English were not making much sense to her.
“2 months, young girl. I suppose you had a good rest? Yes? No? Good. I’m detective Watcher Rogers -please stop giggling at my name- please to meet you.”
Yang only had time to nod before he began speaking again,
“Seeing as I already know your name, the formalities are over. Okay. Not to worry, you’re safe, your sister’s safe, and your pet dog’s safe; we’re all safe for now.”
“Err.”
“Yes,'err' is right. Err, what next? What to tell you next?”
“Ahhh...”
“Right! Ever heard of a place called ‘Anime high school?’”
“N-”
“I thought so! That’s what I’m here to tell you. Have to fill you in on the stuff you don’t know. That’s right, there’s lots of stuff you don’t know.... Or rather... remember.” The chuckle that followed made Yang question his disposition,“Wei-why ..yo- are... you here?”
“You, little Yang, you’re special. You’re a special little kid.”
“Wei shen me?”
“Yup, you’re a special little girl. So special in fact, that I can’t really tell you why you’re special. Just trust me on that one.” He gave her a wink.
“But ... why?”
“Oh look at the time, I guess I couldn’t really tell you much today anyway.” He chuckled slightly, “Just don’t let the doctors see.” He smiled as he placed a bunch of files and papers (seemingly printed of the internet) on the bed side table.
“de- Weh... Wait!”

But before she knew it, she caught sight of his suit passing swiftly out the door. Eyes sliding slowly to those papers she quickly hid them under her pillow as the nurse walked into the strangely empty ward.

“One least check up before you leave the hospital. Miss.” The woman smiled.

The story so far

(please check back later - Yang got lazy)

Interesting (but useless) facts

  • Yang was not born with any clear mental disabilities, although she has been known to rapidly change between moods. Bi-polar? .... I wonder that all the time.
  • As a compulsory school unit, Yang learnt the basics of a defensive fighting style called, “Wu-shu.”
    • Without continuing her practice, she can’t recall how to fight now.
  • Yang began learning the Japanese language at school, but at the news of attending a school in that country, she then began taking extra-curricular lessons to improve her fluency.
    • Doesn’t look like it did much… Her Japanese is still very rusty... but hopefully still understandable-ble.
    • Yang’s knowledge of English is by far the worst of the four languages she knows.
    • Why does Yang know 4 languages? having a lot of spare time in her youth, she was also given home tutoring lessons. Ren had it arranged that Yang learnt Japanese, Thai and English in addition to the Chinese mandarin she grew up with.
  • While Ren never stayed home much, she hired a care-taker for Yang.
  • Yang has a special liking for potato chips.
  • A small allowance is sent from home every now and then – Yang has been saving it up.... I constantly wonder what for e___e;;;
  • Recently, Yang has been having trouble recalling people she’d already met.
