Spyridon Louisios Intl Airport (Greek: Διεθνής αερολιμένας της Γεωργίαπολις), better known as Georgiapolis International Airport, is the largest and most used public passenger airport in Georgiapolis. The airport saw 32 million passengers using its two terminals in 2006, an increase of 9% over 2005 and the number is expected to grow by almost 20% in 2007 with the opening of the new super terminal. The airport is located on the eastern side of the Potami River in the suburb of Megalos, about 30km west of Yiannopolis. The airport is also 20km west of the county Harushia and 100km away from the other airport servicing Georgiapolis City, the small Makria Airport.

History
Spyridon Louisios Intl Airport was first opened in 1990 when the old Georgiapolis International Airport was shut down due to overcrowding and poor location. The old airport was located north of Georgiapolis City and was not well serviced by mass transit which meant that building a new airport closer to the city centre of Yiannopolis would be feasable. The planning of the new airport began almost immediatly after the decision was made to close the old airport and within 6 months, authorities had sourced out a location for the new airport. The airport was to be located on the banks of the Potami river just north of the Simlympic Complex which hosted the SimCup II in 2006.
Spyridon Louisios Intl Airport
Construction commenced in late 1986 and the two terminals were considered to be highly functional for thier time. As soon as Spyridon Louisios opened, the old GIA closed for good and all flights started to operate from the new airport. As the years went on, the terminals started to age and with the money of the oil boom which hit Georgiapolis in the 90s, the government decided to build a brand new super-terminal as an International gateway.
The terminal was shelved when the city went into a decline but the plans reemerged in late 2001. The terminal was finally build for 600 million adrios and was completed in 2006, soon before the OneGlobe terminal was complete later the same year.
The tarmac was updgraded at the start of 2007 after being critisized for not complying to international standards. Also in early 2007, The GAOA decided to extend and rebuild the runways of GIA to comply with a set of standards set by the Aostan Authorities. The reconstruction proved successful and all parties are now satisfied with the outcome. Further redevelopment is expected to take place in terms of transportation and especially if the bid for the next Simlympic Games is a success.
International Terminal
The new international Terminal is the first of its kind in the SimWorld and replaced the outdated 80's concrete box which used to be home to all International Departures and arrivals.
The new international terminal cost 600 million adrios to build and has a capacity of 21 million pax/pa. The terminal has free wireless internet access in all areas and has a new large members lounge for Ionic Air club members.
