History
The Caldari-Sushiian Integration: The Beginning
The formation of the Union has occurred since the beginning of the reign of the Supreme Overlord of the Caldari State, Tovil-Toba; and the historic meeting of Chairman Harr and himself. The famous Xi'an Accord was the first step towards a unified nation. Both nations had pledge to allow each other citizens unrestricted travel and it set up a uniformed immigration system to allow a faster processing time for travelers at customs and passport control at airports in both the State and the People's Republic. A year of success followed with the signing of the Edoshi Treaty which was a formalized non-aggression pact between both nations and made both state responsible for each other's security from both international and domestic threats. This cooperative defense strategy allowed the nations to enter a new age of reliance, paving the way for eventual assimilation.
It was during the early months of the Caldari-Latagonian War that both nations had made another major push towards unification. Chairman Harr and His Overlordship sat down in Serekan and drafted the Serekan Protocol which reaffirm each other's commitments to the other and formalized the beginning of cosolidating and infusing Sushiian government institutions with that of their Caldari equivalents. At the beginning of the new year at the end of the war, the Sushiian People's Republic formally held a referendum concerning full-scale integration with the Caldari. It was an overwhelming success.
With the referendum complete, elections for the Sushiian delegation to the Union Congress began in earnest. On January 17th, the Binational Friendship Nationalism Coalition (BFNC) had won over half of the total votes casted with 51% while the second place winner, the Sushiian Nationalist Union (SNU), gained a little less than the BFNC and the remaining 1% winners had vanished overnight. The next morning, the delegation arrived for their first session of the Congress. Sushiia's delegation has been steadly increased as newer members have been admitted and they currently hold 2000 of the 11,200 person Congress, this is likely to increase with in the inclusion of two more members. The integration was complete.
The Laothinans Join the Union: The Civil War
After the formal integration of both Caldari and Sushiians were made known to the international community, the Grand Republic of Latagon called upon her allies to sign a defensive pact called LATO. However unknown to everyone, Laothin had broken into civil war. Forces were split between Malak Xtsosis and his resistance army and the Loyalists.
The brief civil war has catalyzed when Chessian forces were en route to assist the Loyalists but were inevitably stopped by the Forthampton High Seas Fleet. The Chessians were forced to fall back to Chessian Abassia and were unable to return in time to stop the RA. During the civil war, Caldari and Sushiian organizations had sent numerous disguised Red Cross cargo ships filled with 'aid' to assist the RA, making port in Southern Laothin. The war ended soon afterwards.
Chancellor Malak Xthosis' Lord Chancellor, Jude Frost; gave a victory speech in Laothin City among the ruins and pledged his nation's support for the Union. Supreme Overlord Tovil-Toba met with both Laothinian leaders and the Union Congress swiftly approved their admittance. Immediately following the confirmation of the results, Caldari and Sushiian supplies, construction teams and engineers arrived in Laothin and a massive reconstruction effort begun. The Reconstruction has since been completed and the people have been given back their hopes and dreams, all thanks to the generous of the Union. Today they stand beside other members in an effort to build a better world for all.
Trodonian Inclusion: The Forges Burn Bright for the Union
Most of the Eastern Reaches of the world was under control of the Union except for Latagonian holdings in former Carops and Ardalia and her ally, the Prassians. Looking to the long term benefits of consolidating control of the East, the Administrator of Caldari Affairs, Syngman Rhee; met with Viktor Stomalkov of Trodenhiem and gave them a reasonable proposal for joining the Union, citing their outstanding production capabilities would be an advantage to all Union members, severely impacting the LATO's chances of winning a mass production race.
Unlike all other members so far, Stomalkov was the sole ruler of his nation and made the executive decision to join if he was granted the position of Economic Production Secretary. Syngman Rhee proposed this to his Sushiian and Laothinan and with a majority in favor of the revised resolution, the Trodonians were admitted.
Imperial Union Inclusion: The Rebirth of a Former Power
Up to this point, the Continental Meritocracy and the Imperial Union have been seeking admittance to the Union. The Sushiian delegation suggestion that they worked on a tiered process and eventually they would be admitted after succeeding in several goals put out to them by the Congress. This was short lived and after the recent blockade commenced against Prasser by both Laothinan and Imperial Navies, the Union soundly approved their application, effectively adding their fifth member.
Trodenhiem Leaves: The Long Decline
Following the ascension of Emperor Konstantin I and his attempts to bring Trodenhiem into the world stage, Konstantin had Trodenhiem leave the Union. Removing a huge industrial state and severely hampering the Union's military and economic strength.
Government
The Union is classified as a multi-national representative based government headed by a Premier, Shikibato Yuatakkeimo. Unlike other larger superstates, the Union is governed by the Founding Principles, a set of directives and common goals all nations seek: Stability, Order, Faith, Loyalty...All nations share the absolute cause: the betterment of all and the creation of a New World. The LATO considers this central tenant ideal to be threatening and are dedicated to stamping out what they consider 'imperialism.' Premier Yuatakkeimo has pledged that he will not yield in his resolve and continues to build the Union into a powerful and respected superstate.
The Union Congress
The Union Congress is the legislative branch of the Union. Delegates are elected by citizens from their respected member state. Each delegate is given one vote. Currently the total Congress is 11,200 delegates but that is expected to increase to nearly 20,000 soon enough. Below are the totals split party by party and by member state. Results are to change.
