Solitaire Project

The Solitaire Project was a series of genetic expirements initiated by Silas II and Farden Jarrick and headed by Var Saal and later Dr Amon Lyzanda and Itzak Zhukov. The original aim was to build an army of superhuman that would prove almost undefeatable in battle, however with Silas' death and the long period of instability that followed Jarrick who continued the Project in secret, decided it best to merely create a number of minions who could serve as assassins and enforcers for the underground network he was building across Paradisia. The Project has since been abandoned though the results of the Second Generation are still alive.

[edit] Initiation and the First Generation
Initially the Project focused on the ideas of Var Saal a mysterious and highly celebrated man, that genetic mutation and abnormalities could be removed to create a perfect human, however with the insistance of Jarrick he began to create enhanced humans with boosted physical traits such as speed, agility, strength, brain efficiency and such. Once Var Saal had perfected the genetic manipulation techniques required he created the first 'Solitaire' named Spades, who had enhanced speed and mental efficiency. Many others followed, however the First Generation 'Solitaires' proved deeply flawed and mentally unstable and many died young as thier bodies collapsed under the strain as thiey were still human and thus the unnatural enhancements took thier toll.
[edit] The First Generation
Spades was the flagship for the whole project. He bested Jarrick in combat and proved a highly efficient warrior. His mind was warped however as were the other first gen Solitaires and he had a tendancy to chased bright or shiny objects. He eventually died of a heartattack aged just 35 after completing only one mission, in Senorak Valley. The others:
- Clubs, Strength
- Hearts, Intelligence
- Diamonds, Stamina
- Jacks, Speed and Strength
- Ace, Speed, Strength, Mental Efficiency
All died similarly, not to long after except for Diamonds who's whereabouts are still unknown.

Though a failure in real terms Jarrick believed that the Project had a future, however Var Saal was holding it back. So after the dissappearance of Diamonds Var Saal was founded murdered in the Industrial wastes east of Ligonza. Dr Itzak Zhukov was then placed in charge of the project with Amon Lyzanda working closely with him. From there they redeveloped the techniques and the theory of the whole thing and made preparations for the Second Generation.
[edit] The Second Generation
Zhukov found that only certain patterns of DNA were viable to create the far superior Solitaires that Jarrick wanted. Purely by accident when Jarrick cut himself on a broken test tube did they discover that his DNA was perfect for fathering the Second Generation. Zhukov took things a lot slower than Var Saal and was far more careful and precise. He created Fletcher Reise first using an enhanced Stamina and Strength formula, he'd found that enhanced Stamina was necessary as Diamonds was the only survivor of the First Generation. The enhanced stamina would also theoretically not only be enough to sustain the enhancements but also the overall longevity of the subject. After watching Fletch grow up and seeing that he was in every way sound mentally and physically they continued, creating Vitori Vinzo, Alejandro Drax, Armano Sedt, Daphne Reise, Konstantin, Khaine and Clara Verdun. Each had numerous enhancements.
[edit] The K Anomally
The K anomolly is the anomally that caused the creation of Konstantin and Khaine, twins a mirror image of one another. Zhukov was amazed that it had happened. He had not planned it however it appears that the result of the extensive enhancements wrought upon the DNA was a gene causing the occurance of twins. The results of the K anomally were that both subjects were vastly superior in every aspect to any of the other subjects, however one proved mental unstable to the extreme (Khaine).

The exact details of Clara are unknown however the pattern is that the younger the Solitaire the more powerful they are, so Sedt is mor powerful than Drax, Drax is more powerful than Vitori Vinzo and so forth. This would indicate that Clara Verdun is far superior in every respect to Konstantin and Khaine.
