Sushiian Airlines Review: Xi'an to Coastal Blue via New Sake

Hello, its me again with another airline review. This time I'm traveling a relatively recent airline: Sushiian which has been on hiatus due to reorganization of the management and aircraft operations but now that its reopen, I decided I would try it out.

I began my journey at Xi'an's massive international airport (recently memorialized after His Overlordship, Tovil-Toba) and checked my three pieces of baggage at the check-in kiosk. Originally I was booked for coach class which was not very pleasant but due to last minute cancellations, I was upgraded to First. The attendant at the desk was very hospitable and gave me directions to the airline's club (which is only accessible in First Class). As usual, I went through the very strict security checkpoint and was searched by security policemen before being waved on. I know that Tovil-Toba likes order but the State is not that threatened...or is it?

After security, I did a little duty-free shopping and got a magazine or two before entering the club. The interior was very appealing and made me feel at home but the Caldari Airlines' Dynasty Club was nicer by comparison. After a glass of wine and some complementary food, I left for the gate. Now I should have realized that there was passport control before the train which would take me to the concourses and almost lost my visa but I found it just as it was being inspected by the grim and emotionless official. He then stamped it and told me to proceed. I boarded the very packed train and got off at Concourse B where my flight was.

At the gate, the airlines' attendant welcomed me and escorted me aboard the aircraft, which was one of their A380's. I was given a pre-take off beverage and was given an extensive menu to selected from. Due to Xi'an's congestion, we were late to depart but the captain did make every effort to get the first emergency take-off order he could receive. We took off 30 minutes later.

Twenty minutes into the flight, I selected my meal: In First, you eat three times due to the very long distance between the two cities so we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast was alright but there were some substantial items like omelettes and waffles but other than that, there was a selection of pastry to choose from, by the time they got to me, there was barely any of the pastry left. Lunch was very good with a nice pasta and seafood dish while other seafood and meats were offered. However the dinner meal was the best when I had well-done fish and sushi (a namesake of the airline!) The dining was fabulous and only Caldari Airlines can be compared to its superior quality.

After the first meal [breakfast], I turned on my AVOD and was amazed by how much was being offered, 120 channels of Live TV, an extensive First Class DVD collections, uncountable MP3's and Quizsticle, the newest game to hit the region. This was excellent and superior in-flight entertainment except there were very few movies I wanted to watch, most were cheap soap operas of the Corporate Union or Northern Sushi and some of the Live TV channels were not working. XM radio was a little limited but with the iPods, this was sufficient.

The gentlemen next to me on the flight was none other than Isuru Shimonigratz the COO of the entire airline and we had a very length chat during one of the cheesy soaps. He explained his dreams of taking over the entire industry but I was a little scared by that but he was a very personable man and told me he had just come from a business conference in Xi'an and I told him that I work for WORLD and was assigned to evaluate the airline, he was very impressed and applauded me. However I eventually had to use the restrooms. Had I been in coach, the bathrooms would have been meager but the bathrooms of First Class were stocked and cleaned regularly by the crew and decorated with elegance.

After twelve hours of flying we arrived an hour late in New Sake. If I remained in coach it would have been terrible to make my connection to the domestic terminal and my flight to Coastal Blue but with First Class I was given priority at the security checkpoint and got on the private bus which could have gotten me there faster had I realized the vast distance between the two gate areas. I had a little bit of time to do some more duty free shopping after the customs inspection desks. I arrived at the gate just seconds from closing.

On this flight, I was unable to get upgraded and thus I was in coach. Since it was a domestic flight, there was no complete meal rather a paying meal or free peanuts and a drink. Like onboard the longhaul flight, the attendants were nice but the bathrooms were in less than stellar condition and at one time, one of the toilets were clogged giving the cabin a less than perfect smell for the rest of the flight. We did arrive in Coastal Blue on-time and our bags were promptly off the plane roughly ten minutes after arrival. The airport shuttle gave me a lift to the transfer station where I was picked up to be taken to my hotel.

In conclusion, Sushiian Airlines is one of the most executive and stellar airlines to travel on in this day and age. If they fix the small errors, they could be one of the big airline powers. I rate them 4.5 stars (94%). I was very pleased travelling with them and I would not hesitate to fly with them on a more regular basis if only they had more flights out of Xi'an a day, currently they have 2 [a morning and an afternoon/early evening].
