Great Midwest Region (GMR) is a region of BBYO located in Illinois spanning Chicago and its suburbs. GMR is made up of 11 chapters; 6 AZA, 4 BBG, and one BBYO chapter.

Regional Overview

  • Former Name/s: Illinois Council, Chicago Council
  • Geographic: Greater Chicagoland from Homewood/Flosmoor to the Wisconsin Border
  • GMR has 11 strong chapters in the Windy City of Chicago full of the most energetic members in the Order! Each chapter meets weekly for either a meeting or program. We have dedicated advisors who are here to help guide and serve our members as positive role models.
  • BBYO in Chicago use to be known as the Illinois Council and Chicago Council. 4 years ago the councils merged into what is now known as the Great Midwest Region and will continue to carry on with it's unique flavor and tradition.
  • GMR is here to help our youth develop leadership skills and a Jewish identity in a friendly atmosphere!
