- | + | It would, of course, be philcyalsy impossible for this device to deliver a whole cup of boiling water in three seconds. It's a 240V-market product (perhaps there's a 120V version too), so if it drew the full standard-appliance maximum of ten amps, it could have a 2400-watt heater. But to heat a whole cup of room-temperature water to boiling takes something in the order of 75000 joules. Doing that in three seconds would require 25000 joules per second. A joule is a watt-second; 25000 watt-seconds per second is 25000 watts. More than ten times the maximum power the QuickCup could possibly actually draw.Three seconds of 2400-watt heating will give you 7200 joules of energy. That's only enough to raise the temperature of eight fluid ounces of water by a little more than seven degrees Celsius.(I mentioned this in a about an allegedly miraculous water-boiling device.) | |

BBYO Connect
GMR is also home of several Teen Connection Events planned by its BBYO members and largely run by BBYO Connect and Membership Outreach Associate, Samantha Isenstein. Most participants come from the North Shore area, but GMR is open to any and all areas.
Thanks Jocelyn for letting us know your class was havnig an issue with the new live online platform release. Whenever you or your instructor or class members have any issues with the online classroom, the best first step is to always contact West Tech Support at 602-627-4614 or 866-881-4540. Technological issues can result from many different variables. It could be that the internet connections your professor or class members are using are wireless, which can tend to have less reliable signals and sometime briefly lose connectivity. Or it might be something with your Internet browser version or your Adobe flash or other computer settings that are causing the issues. Tech Support may be able to help you diagnose and correct the issue for your computer, and they also log each call so that we can see trends when issues are being reported in larger numbers. That’s often the only way we can find out that these issues exist. If Tech Support is unable to assist, the Suggestion Box is another great place to let us know about these things, because that’s again how we find out. We can’t address something if we haven’t been told that there is a concern, so thanks again for bringing it to our attention so that we can look into it. I checked with some other West students and professors. A few of them did say they have similar issues to what your class is experiencing, but many reported no problems at all. Now we can look into it further and see if there is really an issue with the class platform or if it might be individual internet or computer connections. Again, please have your class members contact West Tech Support so we can identify why their online class connection is being interrupted.Thank you!!JR
History
BBYO in Chicago used to be known as the Illinois Council and Chicago Council, which made up the Great Midwest Region. In 2001, the councils merged into what is now known as the Great Midwest Region and continue to carry on the Region's unique traditions.
