In accordance with Jewish tradition, BBG emphasizes the value of ''tikun olam''(repairing the world). Community service programming can be of a direct or indirect nature. Direct community service involves hands-on activity where the members interact with the community they are serving (e.g., volunteering at a soup kitchen, visiting with residents of a retirement home). Indirect community service entails members participating in service without coming into contact with the community they serve (e.g., raising funds, holding a canned food drive).
