Avitz AZA was found in 2007 due to the merging of the two chapters [[Amitz AZA]] #2490 and [[Aviv AZA]] #2383 in an attempt to form a large, top tier chapter. The merger was successful and Avitz now caps out at 100 members, the largest of any AZA chapter in the United States. It was founded by Adam Meyer and Jeffery Draluck, both the Godolim of Amitz and Aviv. They continued to live on their chapters legacies with instilling the principles of each chapter in younger members.

History

Avitz AZA was found in 2007 due to the merging of the two chapters Amitz AZA #2490 and Aviv AZA #2383 in an attempt to form a large, top tier chapter. The merger was successful and Avitz now caps out at over 100 members, the largest of any AZA chapter in the United States. It was founded by Adam Meyer and Jeffery Draluck, both the Godolim of Amitz and Aviv. They continued to live on their chapters legacies with instilling the principles of each chapter in younger members.

A special note: On March 21, 2009, Zev "S'gan Gimli" Beeber finally decided to step up to his role as s'gan and planned the greatest BBYO program of all time -- LotRthon. On that night, nearly 50 Avitz members (plus a whopping 3 girls who stayed for a whole 10 minutes!) packed into Jordan Katz's basement for an unforgettable night. First there were riddles in the dark of the forest, then random dueling, followed by countless hours of Lord of the Rings as members watched The Two Towers and Return of the King extended editions, along with a 20 minute intro of clips from Fellowship of the Ring. In the end, only 9 people made it through the movies and stayed up until 7 a.m. They were as follows:

Ari Feldstein the Mighty

Austin Goldfine the Wise

David Kupshik the Fair

Drew Maron the Short

David Jacobs the Grand

Max Shafron the Stout-Hearted

Zev Beeber the Magnificent

Brandon Estroff the Kind

???THE MYSTERIOUS 9TH PERSON??? POSSIBLY DAVID GORDON?

It was truly a night to remember. LotRthon has become famous among the international BBYO community, and it was followed up by StarWarsThon in April 2010. Also, there was no available soda at LotRthon. Hail the victorious dead.
