Guitar Hero is a popular series of music video games published by RedOctane and Activision. The first game was released in 2005. The series is notable for its use of a guitar-shaped controller to simulate the playing of music, represented on-screen by colored notes that correspond to fret buttons on the controller. The games support both individual play, as well as cooperative and competitive modes for two players.

Beginnings

There are several theories as to how the Guitar Hero franchise came to be.

WWII

One originates in World War Two. Near the end of WWII (1944 or so) Hitler was running low on human resources. He went to his top scientists to come up with a solution. Their solution was a very early version of Guitar Hero. While regular citizens were playing the game, they were secretly being brainwashed with propaganda. The plan worked and Hitler's forces grew vastly.

In the early 2000s, Harmonix was a major developer in music based video games. In 2004, a staff member learned of the early WWII Guitar Hero and told his coworkers. The first Guitar Hero was released in 2005. Harmonix actually kept the brainwashing technique. However, they tweaked it until the player could not quit the game until they achieved 100% on every song on Expert.

In 2006, Harmonix released Guitar Hero II with great success due to the brainwashing technique. However, the game also became popular in Germany. Shortly after Harmonix was sued by Hitler's Lawyers for copying the game Hitler invented.

To avoid paying millions of dollars, Harmonix sold the Guitar Hero license to Activision. Thus leaving Activision to deal with the legal problems. Guitar Hero III was released in 2007. In 2008, Activision was forced to pay $986,827,093,272,136.17 to Hitler's Goons. Thus Activision declared bankruptcy and was sold off as scrap to Vivendi Games.
