Webs.com

webs.com (formerly freewebs.com)
[edit] History
Webs began in 2001 as Freewebs. It was a launched by brothers Haroon and Zeki Mokhtarzada with the help of their younger brother Idris. Their goal was to enable anyone in the world to express themselves through the creation of their own website.
On November 14, 2008, Freewebs changed its name to Webs, but users' URLs remained in the freewebs.com domain unless they chose to change over. Now, new websites are given subdomains of webs.com, but the old freewebs.com/sitename format still worked, even for new websites.
On December 28, 2011, the online printing service Vistaprint completed its acquisition of Webs for $117.5 million.
In late 2020, the parent company, Vistaprint, announced that on March 31, 2021 all the paying websites hosted by webs.com will be migrated to the Vistaprint domain and all the free websites deleted, with their owners' accounts removed.
[edit] Thanks for choosing Webs to create your website
It's been a pleasure to host millions of websites since we started our journey back in 2001. In late 2011, Webs was acquired by Vistaprint, a company which specializes in customized marketing solutions for small businesses. During this transition, we launched a new website builder under the Vistaprint brand. This builder provides a more modern and easy-to-use experience. We have been maintaining website subscriptions under both Webs and Vistaprint for quite a while, but now it is time to bring all our customers to the Vistaprint brand. This means we will not be supporting any new sites or new premium upgrades. We encourage you to consider the Vistaprint Digital website builder!
