Call of Duty (often abbreviated as COD) is a first person shooter/action adventure/MMO video game series franchise based on WWII, the Vietnam War, and WW3. The series began on the PC, and later expanded to consoles and handhelds, and several spin-off games have also been released. The Call of Duty games have primarily been developed by Infinity Ward and TrayArk and published by Activision Blizzard.

Call of Duty was released in 2003 and developed by Infinity Ward. The game was released on the PC, Mac OS X, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the N-Gage.

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2 was released in 2005 and developed by Infinity Ward.

Call of Duty 3

Call of Duty 3 was released in 2006 and developed by Treyarch.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (also known as COD4, or Modern Warfare) was released in 2007 and developed by Infinity Ward. CoD4 was the first COD game to not be set in World War II.

Call of Duty 5: World @ War

Call of Duty 5: World @ War was released in 2008 and developed by Treyarch. Call of Duty 5: World @ War was a sixty dollar expansion pack for CoD4. The "game" returned to its World War II roots and featured WWII era weapons and maps.

Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 (also known as MW2, or Modern Warfare 2) was released in 2009 and developed by Infinity Ward.
