Honda (founded 1948) is a Japanese manufacturer of lawnmowers and motorcycles. In 1974, Honda decided to build a car to compete with Toyota.

In 1991, Honda began importing the Civic into the United States. By 1999, it had become an overnight success. This caused Honda to create a manufacturing plant in Springfield. After the release of American version of The Fast and The Furious in 2000, the Civic became even more popular and the American Ricer was born.
