The Si4v2 was a redesigned Si4. The motor was used between 1988 and 1994 and had 59 horsepower. The V2 refers to it being Version 2 of the Si4. In 1989, it was learned that the Si4v2 was suffering from severe problems that would often destroy the engine. Originally, So covered this in the warranty until 1990 when they could not afford it. They were given a short amount of time to design a new engine. Instead of creating a whole new engine, Jayatsu Industrial decided to redesign the original Si4 to save time. The end result was a 68 horsepower inline four called the Jayatsu Industrial Inline Four (JIF). The first JIF was produced in 2002 and are sill produced today. All JIF motors are manufactured by Jayatsu Industrial.
