User talk:Henry

Admin here. Questions? Let me know.

Hm. Looks like RobKohr doesn't care for the IRC channel notice. He took it off the Main Page. Personally, I think it should be a permanent link somewhere on the Main Page, perhaps in the list of Tools. —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 08:15, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

Yup...added to the MediaWiki:Sidebar.. --Cometstyles 10:19, 18 July 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, it wasn't well written too, I think the MediaWiki:Sidebar would be a good place to have, I think the channel will come of importance after the new is created. Henry 10:46, 18 July 2007 (EDT)
You know, it might be best to link to a page here about the IRC channel, in which you could forewarn that RobKohr probably won't be monitoring activity there. Then, on that page you could have the actual off-site link to the IRC channel. —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 14:50, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

Hey.. I tried to remove the vandalism by WoW but it is quite tricky since there is no rollback features or (edit) and (undo) features as well..I hope these features would be included in the new Edit this .. Cheers..--Cometstyles 14:57, 18 July 2007 (EDT)

I appreciate your interest in helping to control vandalism here. I've found a rollback feature, but it's not as conveniently located as on newer versions of MediaWiki. If you go to the user's contributions page, you should find the rollback link next to each entry that's still the newest edit on its page. At least, I found it there and hope you will, too. :p —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 08:41, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
I believe that's only for admins, Stormraven. Henry 10:06, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
Ah..well.. luckily this site doesn't get vandalized much.. Cheers ..--Cometstyles 08:21, 20 July 2007 (EDT)
Well, of course! Because only Admins are ever interested in reverting vandalism, after all. It makes perfect sense. Doesn't it? :p —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 09:02, 20 July 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the response. By the way, as I'm new to all this, I'm not sure whether I should be replying on my own user talk or on yours. But anyway..

I'd abbreviated the wiki-site URL, sorry, you should be able to find it at

I saw your response regarding special:import as well.. this is available to me on wiki-site. I haven't created anything at all on as yet, and I thought I'd read while wandering around that it wasn't available. If it is, then great, I can use it right away.

On wiki-site they have the following software versions:

  • MediaWiki: 1.6.10
  • PHP: 4.3.9 (apache2handler)
  • MySQL: 4.1.20

Ahead of it seems, but still a way behind the current version. To be honest, I don't think I need anything too advanced, so long as it works. And as mentioned, the edit restriction on unregistered users would be my main reason for transferring.

Thanks for your response. I may call on you for advice in the future! Eek. Stocko 16:14, 24 July 2007 (EDT)

As mentioned here regarding Category Page Totals, I need a script running on my wiki called refreshlinks.php. As an Admin, is this something you're able to do, or is there only RobKohr who could do it? I have emailed him. Stocko 10:40, 25 July 2007 (EDT)
Only RobKohr on this wiki and don't expect him to reply that fast. Henry 10:57, 26 July 2007 (EDT)

You might have seen...

That the new editthis is erm, sort of running, but click on the link to find out! Henry 10:16, 1 August 2007 (EDT)

Good to see that at least there's movement. —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 11:49, 2 August 2007 (EDT)
You can now make an account there, so if you want, please do so! Henry 20:00, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
Thanks, Henry. I'm going to wait, though, until it's been fully developed and implemented. —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 08:27, 10 August 2007 (EDT)

It's not yet complete. I'll be waiting.--Jtaylor1 16:42, 4 August 2007 (EDT)

What's all the spam? I thought we had most of it under control. I've now blocked Rob for two hours, I will keep doing that until he decides to respond to some edits. I've been out of town, that's why I haven't been around. Henry 20:11, 19 August 2007 (EDT)

Spammers are not to be deterred by our feeble efforts. Since it's so simple to create an account here, they've created spambots that can create their own dummy accounts to spam from. I knew that was going to happen from early on. We need one of those character recognition systems, where you can't create an account unless you type in the deformed text shown in an image, so we know that real people are (probably) creating accounts and not spambots. But I don't know how to install such a system, and we probably don't have the power to do it anyway.
Very soon I shall lose my interest in hunting spammers. You and I appear to be about the only people any more with enough interest in this site and the EditThis service to make meaningful contributions anyway. —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 14:56, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
Oh, me too. I thought about leaving for sometime. I can always remove all edit access on, if we want to shut it off completely. Any blunders RobKohr makes and he gets a block. Henry 23:50, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
I've caught the IP behind the spam edits, or most of them, though not all. is the IP responsible. Henry 12:11, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
Good work! I shall call you Henry-Sleuth! :) —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 09:29, 23 August 2007 (EDT)

Hi Henry,

Thanks for all your work in preventing spam on this wiki. It is greatly appreciated. I added a captcha to user creation. This should greatly reduce spam. I am also working on adding it to edits when there is "http" in the edit body. After that I think spam should be eliminated.

Thanks again for all your help!

--RobKohr 12:34, 23 August 2007 (EDT)

anymous edits

Are back on. If it has http in the body, then it should catch it and put it through captcha. Let me know if any more spam appears. --RobKohr 13:46, 23 August 2007 (EDT)

Contacted Rob

I contacted Rob, asked him to review the stuff I made on editthisnew, and I also asked for sysop rights. Thunderhead 02:24, 26 August 2007 (EDT)

You around?

Just wondering if you were around...we've had major vandalism problems the last week. :) Henry 12:30, 15 September 2007 (EDT)

I'm around, more or less, but every time I check to see how things are going, you've already taken care of any problems. Which I appreciate. :) —Stormraven (talk · contribs) 09:46, 16 September 2007 (EDT)

A comment and a question:

1)Ã£. This is what results when I insert the pounds symbol (£) and then use URLs, which causes the captcha to kick in. This automatic editing on the part of the wiki/ the captcha is getting a bit annoying, especially when I try to render British prices.

2)What do you mean when you say "no" when you delete a page? You make a comment saying "no", which could mean practically anything as far as I can tell. Rickyrab 11:11, 18 December 2007 (EST)

Wiki of the Month templates

I believe that you are supposed to edit the template Current WOTM, not Wiki of the Month, to make a wiki the wiki of the month. The Wiki of the Month template has more general uses, such as nominations for wiki of the month and previous wikis of the month. Editing this template effectively destroyed the nominations page as well as the previous wikis of the month page, and I had to create a new template to replace it, since only administrators can edit the Current WOTM and Wiki of the Month templates. I have fixed the damage mostly, but please check which template you are editing next time.

I do not consider the single word "no" to be a satisfactory reason for the deletion of bagoong. I have re-created the article. If you really have grounds for its speedy deletion, then kindly provide a proper deletion reason. If you have other objections to the article, please explain on my user talk page and, if possible, send an e-mail to the address on my user page.

I was about to make a donation to EditThis. But given the fact that it has been down for most of the past week and that articles seem to be subject to arbitrary deletion, then I may well reconsider. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 13:12, 9 February 2008 (EST)

Dude, where are you , I can still be found on IRC sometimes, drop by :DD ...--Cometstyles 05:31, 31 August 2008 (PDT)
