There are three ways to get a council seat. There is patronage, where a person gets sponsored by two council members. There is inheritence. This is a holdover from before the fall. The Mad Scientists Council is the ruling body of Elled. They are entirely made up of Mad Scientists
There are three ways to get a council seat. There is patronage, where a person gets sponsored by two council members. There is inheritence. This is a holdover from before the fall. Then their is a method that they try to keep quiet- assassination. This last is being phased out in favour of competition. The pragmatists feel assassination is a waste of resources, while the more moral hate it.
DA was the driver behind this change. Ironically DA got his council seat by assassination. Not that he delibretly did it. A low ranking member treis to kiill him and fell victim to one of DA's mad science inventions.
While all others on the council have gained there position through patronage or inheritance, that hasn't stopped them assassinating rivals. There have been only two clean lines. One is FerretBob's the other Captain Saral's.
