"Let's hang your clothes up to dry here in the bathroom for now, Gwen," you tell her. "They're small, and should dry fast." Maybe diverting Gwen to the basement to wait for her clothes to dry in the dryer would be the best course of action, but something makes you want to keep her upstairs. Maybe it isn't the right decision, but you're going to go with it.

Gwen smiles acknowledgement to you. "Okay," she says brightly. "That way we can get right back on the case!"

You move the existing towels around until there's room for Gwen's tank top and pajama bottoms. Gwen carefully puts the wet clothes onto them after wringing out as much water as she can first. They won't do the best job of drying out here, but Gwen just needs them for the trip back home after the investigation is completed.

"Okay, where to first, Max?" Gwen still fusses with straightening out the damp clothes as she talks to you. "Like I was saying before... there's probably all kinds of clues in Sam's room, Amy's room, or Lisa's room. If their doors are unlocked, or if Lisa isn't in her room, that is."

Good question. Amy's room would have all kind of evidence in it. That would seem to make it the last place you'd want to take Gwen. Or is it? Maybe that would somehow work to your advantage? Sam's room, on the other hand, was probably fairly clean of incriminating evidence. Sam kept her place pretty clean, although you couldn't be sure. If Lisa weren't actually in her room, her's was likely to have the least chance of having some kind of actual evidence in it. If Lisa was there, though, things could get awkward. Especially if Gwen decided to confront her with questions, or Lisa was less discrete than she was in the kitchen earlier.

Who said it just had to be one of those three rooms though? You could take Gwen to your room. That would keep her out of trouble, if you could convince her to go there. Maybe you could even find something to do there to distract Gwen from her obsession over who the mystery man was in your sisters' life was. Or your mom's room, if she wasn't in there. Or did you even need to leave the bathroom at all?

Which room do you go to? Stay in the bathroom? Go downstairs to dry Gwen's clothes anyway?
