The Golden Gardens Chase refers to the high speed car chase conducted one night, in pursuit of a random car fleeing from Golden Gardens park.

Set-up

By the time the Extended Group reached the spring of their senior year, it was becoming readily apparent that there was increasingly less to do in Shoreline. Yunnie's Bubble Tea had started to become nauseating, and even "That Park By Terry's" was starting to get dull. (Many theorists postulate this is why there was a dramatic increase in the appearance of Circle of Indecisions)

One weekend night, while out driving aimlessly around Ballard, Brett and Andy decided it would be fun to go to Golden Gardens and check out the alleged "drunken Shorecrest parties." The weather was warming up, and it was SOMETHING to do that was away from Shoreline.

The Chase

By the time the duo reached the outer perimeter of the beach, cars began to explode out of the park. It was after the closing time, and it looked as if the police were breaking up yet another underage drinking party. Several police cars were racing after some cars, but most were getting away.

At this point, it somehow occurred to the duo that it would be a fun idea to follow a "car full of girls." It made no sense whatsoever to do so, but speculation points out that Andy wanted to find a CWG (or "cute white girl"). Once a car was chosen at random, the duo took off in Brett's Range Rover and sped after a white SUV up the hill. Details of the pursuit are sketchy but the following reports can be confirmed:

  • Brett hit a top speed of approximately 45mph before letting the SUV (which had accelerated up to 60mph) escape.
  • During the chase, the SUV stopped several times to allow passengers to flee from the car. One notable time, the SUV pulled a big U-Turn in a fast food parking lot, stopped at a stop light near Ballard High School, and let one of its passengers sprint away from the car.
  • At one point, the duo pulled along the right side of the SUV, causing Andy to put on a pair of sunglasses to hide his identity and slink down in his seat.

To this date, the exact fate of the SUV and its passengers remains unknown. No persons were seen injured during this incident, and as far as we know no one was. We cannot say for sure what the passengers of the SUV thought was happening, however it may be safe to assume that all of those in the SUV that night did not return to Golden Gardens for a while.
