A now famous melody written by Asher Christl.

Origin

Towards the end of Spring Quarter 2005, Kevin, Asher, and Brett decided to visit Lukas down at Ashton hall at SPU. (perhaps lured by the promise of free food) Upon arriving in Lukas's room, it quickly became apparent that their presence was unwanted by Lukas's roommate, Mike. The foursome retreated to the balcony lounge just down the hall and began talking. Asher picked up a small keyboard that was sitting around and began playing. It was soon decided that Asher would compose instantaneously songs whose titles would be made up. As an example, Kevin picked the title "Lukas Peter, Friend of the Octopus". Asher played an alternating 5-1 pattern for bass and then proceeded to add a descending chromatic scale melody over the top. It was an instant hit with the room virtually exploding in laughter and individuals struggling to catch their breath. Situations were were proposed that the song actually referred to Lukas walking down to the wharf, picking up his octopus friend, and then walking hand-in-tentacle to the carnival. The songs simplicity made it easy to emulate, and soon others picked it up on piano.
