Mobile
From The Extended Group
The Mobile is a land vehicle constructed by combining Jeremy's sled with Owen's beat-up skateboards held together with copious amounts of duct-tape. The term itself was coined by Jeremy, and is pronounced the way you wouldn't think to pronounce it. It was ridden down hills and braking was accomplished by putting feet down to slow the vehicle.
Inaugural Run
The first attempt to ride the mobile took place shortly after midnight on a cold winter night in 2003. A hill was selected, the dip in 178th street right by Jeremys house. The mobile made a loud grinding sound similar to a skateboard driving over a thin layer of gravel and ended up making more noise than expected, which awoke Jeremy's neighbors after several runs as well as much shouting and laughter. Rather than chastise the group or call the police, the neighbors timidly asked how much longer we would be. Sufficiently guilted, the group postponed further runs to a later date.
Blind Run
Perhaps overconfident by past successes with the mobile, the group later attempted to ride it blindfolded. Because Jeremy was already blindfolded from earlier events of the evening (see How we are all so gay), it was determined that he would pilot the test run. After walking up to that one Park by Terrys, Jeremy climbed aboard the mobile and began descending the hill on the east edge of the park. Because of his blindfolded state, and the fact that steering was accomplished by leaning to either side, Jeremy went straight for approximately 100 feet before veering sharply to the left. In a fortunate turn of events, Jeremy would narrowly avoid a parked car and instead crash into a stop-sign, ejecting him from the vehicle and spilling him into the wet gravel by the side of the road.
