Heroing it loosely describes the reckless approach to an activity which traditionally requires a great deal more caution.

Origin

The term was first coined during a marathon round of Mario All-Stars: The Lost Levels. Growing weary of a more cautious approach, players would occasionally dash blindly through the stage, causing onlookers to exclaim, "don't be a hero!" This sort of behavior was especially prevalent in the perilous Bowser stages. While this technique typically led to certain doom, it proved sporadically useful in the more advanced levels, particularly when all traditional means of approach were exhausted. As the night wore on, the act of being a hero became known simply as heroing it. After a session of consistent utilization, this phrase quickly drifted into obscurity.

Trivia

The phrase made its final apperance in a Drawing Game round, in which a group member attempted to hero it through sex.
