Ms. Sukol (or "Ms. Thukol" in some circles) was a history teacher at Shorewood High School. Several group members experienced her distinct flavor of American history during their formative years.

Idiosyncrasies

Many group members have noted some of Ms. Sukol's exaggerated physical mannerisms. These include her ability to espouse liberal revisionist history while maintaing gallons of saliva in her mouth, the results of which is a noticeable lisp. Also, the comedic dimorphism between her (normally sized) head and (abnormally small) body have led some to make comparisons with that of a vampire, imp or muppet. The speed at which she speaks also increases exponentionally with the amount of outrage she is feeling.

Teaching Method

Ms. Sukol's curriculum relies on the theories of American historian Howard Zinn, who takes a distinctly anti-establishment view for nearly the entirety of United States history (this viewpoints came to be known as "Zinnicism" by those in her class). Hence, readings, discussions and assignments tended to rely on a deeply liberal interpretation of historical events. Examples of this may include a questionably placed Michael Moore movie and putting "Pat Buchanan" as a possible choice on a test question asking "Who was the leader of the fascist party?", as well as spending an exhorbent amount of time on the civil rights movement. A strong supporter of women's rights, Ms. Sukol would prominently display on the whiteboard a bumper sticker reading "Feminism: The radical notion that women are equal to men" for an entire semester.
