Ozma

A power pop/geek rock band from Pasadena, CA, they first came into group use during the later part of 2000, with its origins being unclear. Most think it was discovered by Jeremy in a search for bands similar to weezer. Its catchy hooks and sing-along chorus's, not to mention Russian gimmick and video game references quickly endeared it to group members. Jeremy, Kevin, Terry, Jamie, Lukas, Owen, Nathan, Asher, Andy, Rama, Brett, Gavin, and even Jordan were all fans at some point. Several live shows were attended.

Weezer

Another Power pop/"geek rock" band from Los Angeles, they predate Ozma by several years and are considered vastly more famous. Entry into the group is also shrouded in mystery, although sketchy reports suggest it was introduced to Kevin by Nathan at a fairly early age, and that it was also introduced to Jeremy at around a similar time. Anecdotal evidence suggests Asher knew of the band in 9th grade since he occasionally played "Undone" and "Say it aint so" in stage band. Regardless of origin, the band is almost universally liked in the group. Concerts were attended by several members in 2001, 2004, and 2005.

Radiohead

British progressive rock/electronic band which has existed since the early 90's. It is unsure of how this group got introduced to the group, although key players were probably Jeremy and Kevin. Notable group fans are Jeremy, Kevin, Asher, Brett, and Jamie. There is still controversy over some aspects of this band and their live performances.

Muse

British progressive rock band with strong vocal similarities to Thom Yorke of Radiohead. Historically a "Brett" band, it has also found an audience with Andy, Jamie, Jeremy, Lukas, and possibly Owen. Brett is still by far the biggest purveyor of this band and has seen their live show and met the band as well. Lukas and his SPU band the "Fighters of Satan" attempted to cover the song "Stockholm Syndrome" for the upcoming talent show, but were rejected, probably due to the addition of crushing metal riffs and pinch-harmonic soloing added to the end.

The Get Up Kids

Pop-driven emo-rock band from Kansas. Entry to the group can be traced to Kevin who brought the band to the attention of several group members in late 2000/early 2001 (see Mr. Moreno's Cartooning Class). The band propogated quickly spreading to Jeremy and Terry, and from Jeremy to Lukas and from Lukas to Jamie. Interest seemed to die somewhat among most after the bands sophomore release "Something to Write Home About". Fans of the band include Kevin, Jeremy, Terry, Nathan, Jamie, and Lukas. Nathan, Kevin, Jeremy and Lukas attended their live performance at the former Graceland in early 2004, and Lukas went on to see them again later that year when the group opened for Thrice. There is controversy over several individuals comparing TGUK song lyrics to problems in their own personal lives.

Rage Against the Machine

Political rap-rock band from Los Angeles. Origin in the group is not clear, with several members appearing to develop a taste for the group indipendently. Noted fans are Rama, Kevin, Jamie, Andy, Lukas, Jeremy, and later Gavin. The group is popular despite angry lyrics describing glorious socialist revolutions, a theme which is not usually present in group discussions.
