Triangle Man is a character invented during a series of Drawing Game rounds.

Origin

It is believed that the first Triangle Men arose from interpretations of illustrations made using Gavin's Sidescroller Method, which depicts Drawing Game prompts as though they were screen shots from a platformer-style video game. Various geometric shapes often take the place of more complex bodies, which, among other things, has lead to an unusually high number of Charlie Brown appearances in Drawing Game rounds. (For a similar phenomenon, see the Jeremy Factor).

One noteable character that came out of this process was Triangle Man, an anthropomorphized triangle who may exist in either two or three dimensions, and is generally involved in any manner of absurd misadventure.

Analysis

Triangle Man is one of the more interesting creations to come out of the Drawing Game process, especially because everyone draws him differently. Various interpretations, from Brett's "cheese block" to Terry's "three dimensional caution sign" illustrate the vast potential for creative composition in this activity.

Some have gone so far as to suggest that, like a Rorschach inkblot test, the occurrence of characters like Triangle Man is a blank slate for the subconscious manifestations of various Drawing Game participants. Similar in its multifarious and self-reflective qualities to the Jeremy Monster, Triangle Man is one of the more beloved, and intriguing, accidental group creations.
