The Shrimp Eating Competition, which occurred in 2003 (?), exemplified the unusual and competitive dynamic between Rama and Nathan.

Prelude

Nathan had approached Jeremy and Lukas with the news that there was a shrimp eating contest at Central Market. Upon arriving at the Market to sign up Nathan, the three realized that the only other person on the sign up list was Rama (see Rama being Rama). What followed could only be described as a rare showing of Nathan losing his composure to a fit of unbridled laughter.

The Contest

However, by the day of the competition, there were far more contestants than simply Rama and Nathan, including a street bum who happily and methodically stripped and devoured his shrimp, seemingly unaware that a contest was taking place. In the end, neither of the two won. Although Rama finished his shrimp prior to Nathan, this didn't stop Nathan to contend that he was the victor, citing the fact that Katie ate one of Rama's shrimp.
