Poverty websites were the result of an assignment in Ms. Sukol's 11th grade history class. While the assignment was intended to raise poverty awareness, these websites instead exhibited many of the idiosyncracies of group humor, as well as a growing apathy towards pointless busy work, which would reach its apex in AP Psychology.

The Poverty Stompers

The Poverty Stompers were comprised of Jeremy, Nathan, and Brittany Bell. A defining characteristic of their website was a prevalent Mega Man motif, complete with Mega Man background music as well as artwork. In fact, much of the group's work time was spent watching Nathan learn the Mega Man 3 intro song on guitar. Despite painting a fairly tongue-in-cheek portrait of poverty, the Poverty Stompers nonetheless managed to receive a fairly high grade for the project.

Kathman's Poverty Rangers

Kathman's Poverty Rangers were comprised of Brett (and a few others). While their website was similar in structure to the Poverty Stomper's (right down to a Mega Man theme) the Poverty Rangers were considerably less subtle in their playful perspective towards poverty. One example of this was the utilization of Dave Thomas as their mascot. Apparently the humor was lost on Ms. Sukol, who gave the group a subpar grade and left comments to the effect of "I'm glad you had fun with this project, but poverty is no laughing matter."
