Since then, the Rhann have represented the primal and the dark among the "good" races of the Sensual Realms. A race of nomads, they spurn all trappings of civilization, wearing naught but leathers, feathers and paint and carrying no more than they can heft on their backs. You are one of the Fire shaman of the Rhann; empowered by your god, you have power not only over flame but over passion and life. Your own passions are harder to control, however, and it does not help that you must draw the greatest of your powers from rituals that are either violent or sexual. But if you master your power and serve your people well, perhaps you, too, will one day be worthy to become an Avatar of Fire.

Ages ago, the Rhann and their gods were of the elves, idolizing and emulating all of nature together. But when the other races, most notably the humans and the Huruin began to become civilized and cultured, there was a slow shift in their society. Some of their gods became angry at the taming of wild nature, the buildings of stone and the settled fields, believing that it was not the place of mortal creatures to shape the world to suit themselves. These gods and their worshipers decided to try and end the dawn of civilization in the Sensual Realms. But they failed; the humans turned their skills to war, and the Huruin took up powerful magic, and both threw back the savages, decimating their numbers. At this time, the humans proposed to destroy all the elves; but shamed at their failure and fearing for the people of the forest, the wild elven gods of Fire and Wind took the remainders of their worshipers and transformed them into the Rhann; more powerful but also less controllable than they had been, their elven beauty accentuated with catlike bestial traits, these people harried the human forces and drew them away, pretending that all along they had been a separate race. The elves, and their serene gods of Earth and Water, could only look on in sadness as their brothers and sisters became hunted, homeless beings.

Since then, the Rhann have represented the primal and the dark among the "good" races of the Sensual Realms. A race of nomads, they spurn all trappings of civilization, wearing naught but leathers, feathers and paint and carrying no more than they can heft on their backs. To survive they have become bound close to their gods, taking some of their power into their own blood; all Rhann have some magic, as well as being physically strong, healthy and dextrous by nature. When the Merlurn, the shadow-men, began their war, the shaman who lead the Rhann called down the power of their gods to turn the mightiest of their heroes into Avatars of Wind and Fire, few in number but capable of turning whole armies by themselves.

So: are you a man or a woman?
