Personality

Verald is generally silent. He prefers to listen to other speaking and draw upon his best conclusions before putting his own views forth it his calm, reserved voice. However, when he does speak, those around him would do well to listen, as he is very wise and incredibly intelligent. His voice is quiet and soft, yet it resonates with kindness; and though he almost never speaks loudly, his voice can still fill a concert hall.

Verald is a good, warm man, caring and friendly to all around him, with a heart bigger than his bicep (and thats saying a lot). He is unfailingly gentle, especially to his new wife, who he married at 28. When riled, however, Verald is a fierce warrior. His immense bulk and battle prowess serve him well, and he pledges himself steadfastly to any cause he sees as just.

Verald is tall and well-built. He wears his wavy black hair long and pulled back to keep it from his eyes, also jet-black. His eyes are deep and wise beyond his years, and it seems as if they hold the knowledge of the universe behind them. He keeps his beard short and well-trimmed. Veralds armor is sturdy and heavy, but he can still move quite quickly in it, due to his physique. It is colored a deep royal purple, the heraldic color of his home country Endal.

Biography

Veralds father was a Maver, meaning Wolf, and his mother a Darian, or Shield. The two of them joined two ancient, noble houses that had existed from before the sundering to form the Maver-Darians. Verald was born into this nobles family, his own name meaning Strong Friend. He soon lived up to the name by defending himself and his first childhood friend, Derek Veseromius de Montrierre, against a bully. In his childhood and teenage years, he attended a prestigious school and graduated with high honors, spending his free time with his little brother Eldyn. He was never the life of the party, but he was never without a group of friends either.

At a young age of 17, Verald joined the Endalian Army to serve his Emperor Aurieus Cyrus Darius. He distinguished himself in battle early on, and made his quiet way up to the rank of general, and eventually to the Commander of the entire Endalian Infantry. He now serves his emperor with the utmost loyalty and conviction.

It was in this setting that at 25 he met the Lady Amalieve Hélène Raine-Lacroix Clavert, 19-year-old daughter of a nobleman and politician. He fell in love at first sight and gained permission from his emperor and her father to court her. Three years later they were wed, and they are now living together with two children, a boy of three and a newborn girl.

Verald, after years of service, resigned from the Endali military to be with his family - but was called back as an ambassador to Ainor. He decided to move there with his wife (at least temporarily) to be with his friend Meinhard - and though he didn't swear fealty as a knight of Ainor, he swore fealty as a friend. As long as he was in Ainor, he would protect it to the best of his ability; that is, until Ainor's interests conflict with Endal's, in which case he'd seek aid from both Meinhard and Lucretia.
