Appearance

Kaethe is a beautiful young woman, that sort of natural pretty that can shine through without make-up or upsweept hair or anything of that kind. Her features are gentle and kind, friendly and welcoming - she appears constantly at ease, smiling often although laughing is actually quite rare. She carries herself gracefully, elegantly, almost regal.

She has blonde hair, wavey and well kept. Deep, brown eyes (DESPITE PB) that can be uncomfortable to meet. Soft voice, good posture, flattering sense of fashion but not too chic or cutting edge. Plays it safe, looks nice enough.

History

Kaethe never knew her parents. Her earliest memories were that of being a toddler in the Belgian orphanage that she spent most of her life in. From what she'd managed to gleam over her time there was that her mother had got knocked up when she was still in her early teens and gave the child up at her parents behest. Not exactly good, but not exactly as sad as having them die in some tragic motor accident...

She made friends easily with the children around her, though she was only close to about one or two at a time. Eventually, though, as is encouraged and expected, children would get adopted by a loving family and inevitably this would include one of the few that Kaethe had attached herself to. This would result in a rather different child; the quiet and nonconfrontational girl would at once lapse into fits and would usually have to be dealt with for hours by one of the staff members.

For some reason, Kaethe never got adopted. Many would-be parents noted that they sensed that something was off about her quiet nature, her smile (ah, and she never laughed), her eyes, the fact that she wasn't very talkative or friendly and would seem more wrapped up in whatever activity she was doing at the time rather than in the people who would come in and talk to her. No matter what the workers would suggest to her, Kaethe refused to change her attitude.

Growing older, her fate at the orphanage didn't change either, but her attitude towards her adopted friends did. No longer were there outbursts, kicking or screaming or anything of that sort. Kaethe, now a refined young lady would take the immediate loss of (her) family to another family with little complaint. While... true, in a sense, it wasn't so completely. Instead her frustration was channeled into her school work or her flute. She had picked up the instrument at around age 7 or 8 and had a natural talent that the workers at the orphange helped to cultivate.

As time drew nearer for Kaethe to be let out of the system, one of the workers at the orphanage decided that with her intellegence and musical finesse the girl should try to aim a little higher than more state-run institutions. She needed a break from the home she'd lived in nearly her entire life, and making new friends and contacts would do her some good. Kaethe didn't object - at this point, most of her good friends were gone and she was dead weight to the establishment; no one adopted 15 year olds.

In looking at schools, Kaethe showed a particular interest in Second Heaven (mostly due to the name of the locale) and together they put together a package with an application and a sample of her flute and piano playing. And then they waited. Eventually, they got a reply - Kaethe was accepted with a full scholarship, provided that she kept her grades up and stayed in Orchestra all three years of her attendance. Easy!

And so, she was sent off - all at once afraid and hopeful. She'd never left the city, let alone the country, and there was a lot of pressure for her succeed at school. She tested into 1-1, towards the end, and spent that year in the back, working quietly and feverently to keep her grades and flute playing up. She easily made it into 2-1, and now in 3-1 she's prooved her worth. Likewise, her playing has only improved, growing by leaps and bounds. While she might never say so out loud, she considers herself one of SH's premiere musicians.

Personality

Keywords: Quiet, controlled, obsessive, talented, secretive, protective.

Kaethe is kind-hearted, or at least that's how she makes herself out to be. She's protective of the people around her, but if you get too close you might find her interest in your life suffocating. She performs well at the tasks she sets out to do, but doesn't go out of her way to be praised or noticed. The only immediately noticible exception is that she defends her first chair in flute with a vicious quietness.

Quiet, academic, Kaethe always seems to be one step below the top, poised uncomfortably. She waits for people to come to her, if possible, though something about her might lead some to say that she's shy or secretive, maybe even paranoid. Overall, Kaethe is a pretty, intellegent and talented young woman who doesn't lend well to being important.

Yes, she's quite nice. Just don't make her angry.
