Lucion is said to have materialized from a need of Cyphus to control a new phenomenon that was occuring on Reydala: Magic. The theory is that every action the Gods take in the mortal sphere leaves a portion of Unreality in the world, and this Unreality could be controlled by skilled mortals to invoke wonderful effects. Naturally, such a powerful force threatened the very world should a mortal be able to tap into it's true power, seeing this dilemna, Cyphus created Lucion with the purpose of regulating this unreality.

Lucion first went about making sure that unreality did not concentrate in any particular place, spreading it throughout the world. While this meant that every mortal on Reydala could invoke unreality no matter where they were, it was unlikely that they could gather enough of it to cause damage on a cosmic scale. Secondly, as mortals using Magic expends some Unreality of the world, he found the only solution to Godly interference was to equip the mortals with Magic. In this way there was a delicate balance, Gods would put more Unreality into the world and mortals would expend it before detrimental effects could occur.

While Cyphus agreed that this solved the problem of Unreality, he regretted the need for a cycle of constant intervention in the world. Lucion dismissed his fears, borrowing from him in saying "Humans should be able to shape their own world as they seem fit, not be pawns to Gods, in doing this I am giving them a spark of the divine: It is up to them how to use it". Certainly the induction of magic on Reydala brought thousands more Lessons and thus more abilities to learn. Cyphus in the end grudgingly accepted Lucion's system as necessary.

Dogma:

Lucion's Clerics often share levels of Wizard, and believe they are serving Reydala in performing magic in order to compensate for Godly residue. They pass little judgement as to how it is used as long as it not used in a way that will disturb the fragile balance of reality. All arcane techniques came originally from Lucion's interventions in the world, and his followers seek to develop more efficient ways of manipulating Unreality to better serve the world as a whole.

Aside from maintaining the balance of unreality, followers of Lucion follow a strict regimen of training in the magical arts to have the greatest efficiency possible in unreality manipulation. This includes a fair amount of practicum, which usually amounts to a good deal of community service, adventuring, or mischief, depending on the alignment of the Arcanist in question.
