Allies
Throughout the Paper Mario series, Mario has relied upon both old and new friends to help him through his adventures. The first two games featured many enemy species-Goomba, Koopa, Boo, Bob-omb, etc.-as friends. In Super Paper Mario, new entities called "Pixls" appeared. These were ancient pieces of living technology that endowed Mario and his pals with amazing new powers. In addition to these characters, the games also featured sections in which players controlled other parties. In Paper Mario, all chapters (save the last) ended with an adventure in Bowser's Castle, in which the resourceful Princess sneaked around collecting information with Twink. This format was repeated in Thousand Year Door, with additional sequences featuring Bowser. In Super Paper Mario, the player can instantly switch between Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi; each possesses a unique ability.
