History
the history of the Minoru
Minoru, meaning seed in the Rik'ash langauge is the name chosen by the people of a small island in the north western hemishpere just far enough from the mainland that you'd not be able to see the islands, but still within a days travel by boat if you row, within a few hours should you have an paraform vessel. What really sets these people apart is also the reason they live such a secluded life, rarely stepping foot off their home Island. They all look like cats. When the Arch-Mage Yuudai, which in the Rik'ash langauge implies "great hero" attempted to paraform a man endowed with the agility, grace, and great strength of the wild cats in the forests of [insert forest place name here] what he did instead to combine the men (and women) upon which he expieremented with the wild cats he had caught for these expirements. The subjects he used, mostly peasent children, stolen from their homes in the middle of the night were of no use to Yuudai they had fur, they had feline noses, their ears had become elongated in a feline manner. However they had none of the strength or grace Yuudai sought for his race. Looking as they did, feline faces, tails, and fur, the 200 plus children had no where to go, they'd be freaks among men, not to mention that the fusing of souls between man and beast left them with apettites for raw meats, strange plant life, and above all extremely violent. Thinking to rid himself of this failed attempt at sorcery Yuudai located the island that the soon to be natives would call home, leaving all the children there with only the bear essentials of life, a water skin per 5 heads and a set of flint and steel for every 20th bastardized child of nature. However, these children did not die. There were those who had been weak of body or soul to begin with. Those weak of body starved to death in the first few weeks, those weak of soul succumbed to their new animal instincts, and were killed in self defense, all in all, less then 50 children died those first few months, and those who had been children of carpenters, or those who had learned from travelling sorcerors how to conjure small flames helped those who had no useful skills to prosper.
Culture
Whats up with those crazy cat folks? Time passed and nearly 100 years later, the people of the island number in the range of 1000, 1500, they control their population through selective rights to mating, making sure that their are never too many so that the islands eco system might continuosly provide them with all that they need. Devoid of even the most basic technologies, yet skillful in hand to hand combat, and the arts of subterfuge and hunting, the Minoru people have themselves studied and engrained amongst their culture the control and manipulation of water and fire, via mana and paraform though they don't know it by those names they've developed these skills from the most base magic knowledge they brought with them, in order to cook foods and catch fish without the use of complicated tools.
Travel notes
What to do if you see one. The Minoru people speak a form of english so changed by time that you'd be hard pressed to understand a single word during a reading of even one of their most long winded poets defining epics, they can understand most speech from humans, they just have great difficulty speaking back. What this usually means is that when a Minoru does decide to leave the island, he or she, will find a human they think can understand them and basically mate themselves to them regardless of the humans desires. They will follow, pester, and bother until the human just accepts that they've got a new job as translater for these strange, strange people.
