Stephen Howell
Birthdate: June 15, 1993
To people he likes, he's pleasant and fairly easygoing. He loves to talk and enjoys giving his opinion on anything and everything, whether it be Quidditch, his favorite subjects, a party he went to, or his dislike of those less than pure. When he's with his friends, he has a tendency to influence and be influenced by them -- if they want to do something, he goes along with it, and if he wants to do something, he'll suggest it, though oftentimes the things he and his friends get involved in include acts of cruelty to other students. With people he dislikes, he tends to say and do hurtful things without a second thought; to him, they deserve it for being less than pure. However, he is still polite to professors, and will often feign innocence so he doesn't get in trouble as much as he should. Stephen has a confidence which borders on arrogance, and if he does something noteworthy, he doesn't hesitate to brag about it to his peers -- he likes having the attention focused on himself.
Strengths: Stephen prefers the hands on classes like Potions and DADA, and to a lesser degree, will enjoy Care of Magical Creatures when he's old enough to take it. Around his friends, he is social, charming, and outgoing, and isn't afraid to go up to a stranger and talk to them at a party. He is well-mannered and well-behaved in class, always gets his homework done on time, and is respectful of his elders (even if he doesn't always like them). When it comes to his favorite classes, he is determined and works for the best grade possible.
Weaknesses: Stephen doesn't do well in classes like History of Magic and Astronomy; he finds them to be boring, so he doesn't try. Transfiguration also frustrates him quite a bit. He is very snobby and selective with who he befriends -- he outright refuses to be friends with blood traitors and those that aren't pureblooded, and finds even talking to them to be painful unless he's insulting them or pranking them. When he's talking to someone he doesn't like, he tends to say nasty things without thinking first. Although he isn't quick to anger; when he does get mad, his temper is rather nasty and he will throw a fit when he can't have his way. He also has two faced tendencies, acting like a perfectly innocent angel in front of adults, but when their backs are turned, he acts like a mean brat.
Fears: Stephen does not like dealing with Muggle objects in general, but especially is afraid of cars and refrigerators. When he was young, he was nearly hit by one, crossing the street with his family. Also, at age six, some Muggle kids caught Stephen, tied him up, and shoved him in a freezer -- the kids were caught, though, so he wasn't stuck inside for long.
History
Stephen lives in Portsmouth with his parents, Donovan and Diana Howell, and his older brother, Benjamin, who is in third year. His father, a strict, businesslike, and quiet man, works at Gringotts. His mother is something of a trophy wife and prefers to stay home, socialize, and dote on her two sons -- she never misses an opportunity to spoil them and brag about how wonderful they are to anyone who will listen. Stephen's had a typical childhood for a pureblood -- being dragged to, and actually enjoying, all the parties that his parents' friends threw. Not only was he spoiled by his mother, but by his aunt Corina as well, whom he would go to visit every so often. Both parents support the new minister and approve of the way the Ministry is run, but only Donovan is a Death Eater.
Significant Relationships
Stephen gets along well with the Daedals, as well as with other elitist students. Out of his family, he's closest to his mother and his aunt Corina.
