History
Now Playing! was created by HackerGroupie in May of 2005 as part of the LJ community Hogwarts is Home. It was a place for members to roleplay, earn points, and meet people. The commnity grew over the span of a few months, and in February 2006, became its own community, no longer a part of HiH.
The roleplay focuses on original characters, as in, characters that the player thinks up and creates on their own. NP is unique in that, while it takes place in the Harry Potter universe, it has no connections to very few of the main characters of JK Rowling's works. While characters like Dumbledore and Voldemort exist, Harry and his friends do not. A few minor 'canon' (characters from the series) characters exist, but they're adults and NPCed by the moderators.
Now Playing encourages its members to be creative and as involved as possible with the group. The staff is always on hand to answer any and all questions.

Rules
+ 1. There is no Harry Potter! In fact, there are NO canon characters with the exception of Dumbledore, Voldemort & the Hogwarts ghosts, which will be either played or NPCd by NP Mods. Thus, your pureblood is not related to the Malfoys, and your Gryffindor does not shop at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.
+ 2. Days change at 12:01 AM EST, Friday and Monday mornings.
+ 3. Put the date/time of your thread in your subject lines.
+ 4. Please remember that posting order is in effect. You must take turns posting with others. If you're in a thread with two others, you must set up between yourselves the order in which you can post "your turn."
+ 5. If you are in a thread, please note that people do make plans, so don't cause another player to be stuck. Please inform players if you are unable to reply.
If you puppet another's character you must keep the puppeting minimal and true to the character's personality. Do not do anything to/with that character if it will result in either harming or altering said character.
+ 6. We are open to applications for a second character AFTER you have been RPing your first for a month. As always, if we find the activity of your first character to be, well, mostly inactive, then we have the right to reject your application on that basis. Players are allowed to apply for only one character per community (Atlas, Hogwarts) per month.
+ 7. Major plots, changes in character, crazy antics, and other such things (eg. potions gone wrong, more advanced magic) MUST go through the mods first! You can do this at the Plot Permission Post.
+ 8. This RPG is rated PG-13. Do not exceed this rating IG under any circumstances.
+ 9. Character journals are not canon until mentioned IG.
+ 10. Mary Sues. Just don't.
