10 Words to describe your character: Paranoid, guilty, secretive, combative, angry, confused, lonely, impulsive, intelligent, raging bulldyke.

Personality:

Georgiana is hard to interpret. Everyone gets to see something a tiny little bit different, although she is a very closely guarded person. What they get most consistently is snark. Georgiana is an unsettled person. She’s paranoid and distrustful and a little bit scared and this has not influenced her well, so she tends to be defensive about everything, which comes across as arrogance, anger, bitchiness. That’s not to say Georgie is a sweet person. She can be nice and even friendly when she wants too, but unless you catch her in a good mood or are close to her, chances are you probably won’t see this side of her. Every person Georgiana knows believes she’s holding something back from them. She is. Georgiana is an avid collector of knowledge. She loves books and secrets and hoards them, even if they’re insignificant. She loves knowing things and the idea that she knows things that people don’t. It’s a way to ease her paranoia.

Georgie has a drive to be the best she can possibly be, especially when it comes to Transfiguration and Charms (she absolutely adores wand work) and so she works extremely hard to stay on top. It also gives her a way to vent her frustrations – she’s not a particularly physical person, but an afternoon of working hard to master charms and transfiguration can leave her in an exhausted but good state because she’s achieved something. It’s also good for when she gets bored and decides to practice on people. She does so like to be creative with her hexes. She does it to impress people or to ease her boredom. Sometimes she just feels like practicing on live targets to achieve a better effect. Georgiana is what some would label as the morally ambiguous. She detests her family and makes no pretences about it when she sees the creepy twins – as she calls her younger brother and sister.

Georgie’s biggest secret is probably the one that defines her most and is the one she sometimes thinks she’ll take to the grave. It’s on her mind almost all the time, but she’s terrified of it. She’s so scared of saying something that she is always thinking about what she says, which adds to the impression she holds back. Even when she’s angry and yelling – which only happens if she’s really pushed, usually she’ll hex or get snarky and adopt a bored persona – she gives the impression she’s watching what she’s saying, she twists words and avoids subjects with a practiced ease. One subject she avoids talking about like the plague is her family. While it’s understood that her family fell from grace, nobody knows why – in one memorable incident, someone asked her why this was, she punched them in the face and told them to shut the fuck up. It was the first time she lost control.

Strengths:

Georgiana is obstinate and headstrong and once she’s got her mind set to something she is going to see it through to the end, no matter what. She doesn’t believe in failure or losing or even coming second. While many would view this as a negative quality, she doesn’t because she knows this drive will propel her to achieve whatever she wants. You have to have ambition and drive and motivation to get places in life and Georgiana has got it in spades.

Georgie’s magical strengths lie in wand work. She wants to graduate top of the class for Charms and Transfiguration and those dreams are easily achievable for her. She spends hours and hours every week working on the practical side. (Some have been unlucky enough to have been her moving targets when she wanted to move onto something more challenging.) She also enjoys tracking down rare and complicated spells that aren’t in wide usage, because she loves to show off about these things – although perfecting just one spell can take her a month to do, she knows all too well the dangers of a spell that is not performed properly.

Weaknesses:

Georgiana really trusts no one. Her paranoia and distrust of almost everyone means she has isolated herself and has few friends. And while this means there’s less of a likelihood of someone else ruining things for her, it also means she has no one to turn to, no one to help her out. Half the time people aren’t even sure of what she’s doing, even though she’s waiting for them to catch up. Mostly she’s not aware of it, but for being surrounded by so many people, she is acutely lonely, though her recognition of this will usually manifest itself in anger. She is incredibly short tempered. Because she is careful with what she says, if someone says something to her that gets under her skin, she will hex them.

Georgie’s magical failings are twofold. For one, she can’t stand getting her hands dirty and thus Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures were gross misadventures she’d rather have struck from the history books. They’re another thing that will probably end with a hex to the face if they’re brought up in her presence. Georgie also fails when it comes to the theoretical side of magic. Even though she loves collecting books and reading up on things, there are a lot of things that bore her to tears – Binn’s history teaching method, for example – and so she can’t be bothered to try. Also, when it comes to exams and when the pressure is on, she is not able to properly convey what she means in essays, which affects her final marks.

Fears:

Georgie fears a lot of things; it’s what makes her insecure. She fears that she’ll be alone for the rest of her life because she’ll never be able to admit to the secret she’s keeping. That she’s been keeping it for so long that she won’t see the harm in keeping it for just that little bit longer, just another year, until she dies. She fears that she’ll be unable to escape her family and she’ll be stuck with people that despise her forever. Sometimes she thinks she’d rather be alone for the rest of her life than have to put up with her family. She fears her secret getting out, or that it’s already out and everyone knows but they don’t want to tell her, because they’re too busy laughing at her. She fears failure, not just the little failures, like not being able to perform a charm or getting less than she expected on a test, but the big failures, the ones that really define you. She’s scared that she won’t have the strength to leave Hogwarts, her family, the life she has now behind. She’s scared that they’ll discover the feelings she has for her roommate. She’s scared they’ll discover the ‘incidents’ in her past. She’s scared that they’ll discover that everything isn’t quite right and she’ll be called a fraud and left in the cold. She’s afraid that no one likes her and everything is just a façade and she’s scared that she’s got no spirit left to fight and if someone tried to take it all away, she’d let them.

History:

Her mother and father – like the good purebloods they were (her father less so, but Georgie didn’t find this out for years) – were pushed into a marriage neither particularly wanted to be in and unlike the advice they received, things did not get better with time. They argued, the bickered, they destroyed the things around them and they said and did things to deliberately hurt each other. Georgiana’s mother was having an affair and her father had filed for divorce. But then she discovered she was pregnant with Georgiana and faced with the possibility of losing custody of her as yet unborn child, she told her husband that she would only keep the baby if they stayed together. So they did, though the union was not a happy one. Georgie was very much like her father and was very attached to her father, which did not please her mother at all. She considered Georgie to be a failure and a write off, and when she fell pregnant the second and third times, they were to another pureblood man. Darcy was extremely proud of his daughter and encouraged her in everything she wanted to do and spoiled her rotten. It created division down the family: Georgiana and Darcy against Lydia, Fitzwilliam and Maria. To this day the division remains and Lydia often uses Fitzwilliam and Maria as pawns against Georgie and her dad.

Her family fell from grace six months after Maria was born. When Lydia revealed to the man she was having an affair with that he had fathered these two illegitimate children, he cut her off and cut his family off and encouraged others to do so, only he’d tell people they were of a ‘bad sort’. This was of great amusement to Darcy, and Lydia often took her frustrations out on Darcy and Georgiana, although they had nothing to do with it. Georgie would escape to the dim, dark recesses of the library where only her father would know where to find her, and she was so grateful for the day when her escape to Hogwarts came.

It was very soon after she arrived at Hogwarts that she realised she was attracted to girls. For so long she had not been exposed to other people, but now she was and she couldn’t quite process it all. She just knew it was something she had to keep quiet. The encounters she has had at school have been either drunken or on impulse, though afterwards she’d swear that she was drunk and that she’d hex them if they told anyone. Outside school, they were hurried and secretive affairs with muggle girls that never lasted longer than a week and always left her feeling incredibly guilty.

Physical Description:

Georgiana is a fair height, 5’9 – 5’10, with blonde hair that just skims her shoulders. Her eyes are brown and her skin is pale.

Hogwarts:

Year: 7th

House: Slytherin

Why are they in that house? Georgiana is morally ambiguous and is driven to succeed, no matter what the cost. She’s secretive and sneaky and when she sets her mind to something she will get it done. She knows what she wants in life, she knows she can do a great deal with her life and she intends to do it. She wants to be first, she wants to be best and she doesn’t want to fail. She doesn’t recognise failure.
