Does your character own a broom? Which brand? *Nimbus with mod permission only* No, Malcolm does not own a broom because of a horrible incident in which his sister repeatedly beat him with a broom...and more. Really, the details are too horrible to go into.

Describe your character’s strengths (both magically and personality-wise. Please note that Animagi and Metamorphmagi, etc. are extremely rare and you MUST have Mod Permission.): Malcolm is quiet. He doesn't speak very often and when he does, he doesn't like to waste words so he generally only speaks when necessary. Though he doesn't really open up to people all that much, when he does know someone he is very friendly and would never intentionally do anything to hurt them--he's excellent with secret-keeping and will not hesitate to try and stick up for a friend in need. He's also a very nice boy, and after being surrounded by negative, mean people for most of his life he is quite the opposite. Really, if it weren't for the obsessive-compulsive tendencies and the nervous habits, Malcolm would be just the sort of boy you could bring home to Mom. He actually does have a sense of humour as well, even though his jokes are usually kind of corny and he's usually the only one laughing at them.

Since he is a Ravenclaw, of course Malcolm is quite a smart kid. His best classes are Potions and Herbology, and though he tries to do his absolute best in all of his classes, he puts most of his energies towards those two. (However, most of his learning is done on his own time and outside of the classroom since he finds it difficult to pay attention in his classes.)

Describe your character’s flaws/weaknesses: Malcolm is just a huge overachiever. He spends most of his time studying and doing as many things as he can in order to keep from idling away the time. Most of his life is centered around school since, even though he is quite a nice guy, he doesn't have very many people skills so it's not that easy for him to make friends. Malcolm is also terribly non-confrontational. Years of being abused by his older sister have made him generally scared of anything and everything, so he's easily taken advantage of and he will allow people to beat up on him without fighting back at all. Malcolm also has a whole host of nervous habits (including tapping his feet endlessly during classes, folding and refolding papers multiple times during conversations, and clearing his throat more often than necessary), and he also has slight obsessive-compulsive tendencies. For instance, before he even begins to think about getting ready to do his schoolwork or what have you, his study area must be perfectly set up and aligned for maximum benefits in terms of studying.

Malcolm would really love to think that he doesn't have any academic weaknesses, when in actuality he doesn't really do too well in any of his classes. This is mainly because it is hard for him to focus on the class when, say, something on his desk is out of order or he just can't get past the fact that his sheet of parchment only has 16 squares when it would look better with 32, or because the people around him often loudly complain about his incessant foot-tapping. However, his absolute worst class is Charms.

Is your character Muggle born, a half-blood, or a pureblood? Explain it. Malcolm is a half-blood. His mother was a muggleborn and his father was a halfblood wizard.

Character Background/History: Malcolm has an older sister, Lilah (7th year Slytherin), and a younger brother. His mother works at a shop in Diagon Alley and his father has a low-level position in the Ministry of Magic. He gets along fairly well with his younger brother since they have both been victims of Lilah's abuse, though Malcolm got the most of it since he is the closest to her in age. In fact, the only person Malcolm is deathly afraid of (to the point that yes, he sometimes ends up crying at the very thought of her, which is highly embarassing) is his older sister, and if someone dares laugh at him for doing such a thing he'll go into a longwinded diatribe about what a twisted person she is. He was ridiculously happy when she went to Hogwarts and spent two blissful years at home, desperately hoping that he wasn't a wizard so that he wouldn't have to deal with Lilah in school. Unfortunately he received his Hogwarts letter and was sent packing to Scotland, and he spent the first half of his first year not talking to anyone.
