  • Walthamstow Marshes: this is probably not the right forum, but this morning I was astonished to see that the line of poplars behind the the riding centre had been polarded,where only last week I had seen two Little Owls which had obviously paired up and now have their home and young destroyed, Now there is no sign of them. They have been in this area for at least 15 years so I hope this thoughtless tree-cutting hasn't put them off (J-P Elmes). *J-P and others - I called the Lee Valley Regional Parks Authority and asked to speak with the Conservation Officer re: this matter - you may want to do the same - 01992 717711.(Mark Pearson)
