This list is maintained by Reuben Braddock. I would class myself as a novice birder, especially compared to most on here. I loved birdwatching as a kid but did it alone so didn't benefit from the help of any experienced birders (I didn't know anybody!). I would spend hours and hours counting birds from my bedroom window in Crewe, Cheshire, but in all those years, the best things I had in my garden were Lesser Redpoll and Reed Bunting. My London garden is actually heaps better! I've put myself down in the competition this year, not to challenge the leaders (impossible!) but to encourage myself to keep up the visits regularly. Hopefully over the period of the year, I'll discover the best areas for birds in the Heath and improve my general birding skills, especially bird calls. At the moment, things like visible migration are beyond me due to lack of experience in bird call ID. It can only get better (I hope). I'll let you know how it goes.

This list is maintained by Reuben Braddock. This is my first year keeping a list for the Heath. I have very tight time constraints so only likely to be able to visit once a week for an hour (or two if I can). Due to this, most of my efforts will be focused on the part of the Heath nearest to my house, i.e. Highgate Ponds and Parliament Hill fields.
