As a much more environmentally conscious world takes form, business users concerned with improving their environment impact look to green technology solutions as a way of lessening their environmental impact, while continuing to be productive.

In a bid to provide the enterprise with a way to be energy efficient, Verdiem (News - Alert) Corporation announced a new offering with HP to provide business users with "first-of-a-kind" solutions and networks.

The new offerings will provide enhanced and accelerated energy efficiency levels by combining Verdiem’s SURVEYOR enterprise PC network power-management solution with HP business desktop PCs

SURVEYOR reduces some of the most critical energy consumption features of PC's like wasted electricity when PCs run at full power even if no one is utilizing them. To lessen this, SURVEYOR reduces fan operation needs via reduced microprocessor draw while allowing devices to also run much quieter. Monitors are also placed in lower power states when not in use to decrease thermal loads.

As the company notes, "running a 5,000-PC network, for example, pumps about 6.65 million pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere a year. That’s the equivalent of 475 mid-size vehicles driving on the road for a 12 month-period. When SURVEYOR is used with the same 5,000-PC network, it cancels out the CO2 emissions equivalent of 110 mid-size vehicles for a year."

The combination of each company's software and PC to enforce environmental change in the marketplace has specifically brought about new breakthroughs in the way Green PCs are used in the workplace.

Kevin Frost, vice president, HP commented in a statement, “HP business desktops optimized with Verdiem power management software will help IT departments take their environmental efforts to the next level."

"We are helping customers reduce energy consumption by combining some of the most energy-efficient PCs available for businesses today with software that can help save energy and cut operating costs.”

According to a news release, the Verdiem and HP relationship delivers three key environmental breakthroughs. The first of those breakthroughs is the ability for PC's networks to measure, manage and reduce the amount of energy they consume. Secondly, IT is able to more easily mange power consumption of PCs from the datacenter. With SURVEYOR integrated in HP PCs, business users are also provided with an icon that lets them know how much energy their PC is consuming-- further improving potential energy savings. And lastly, users will be provided with the ability to utilize a Verdiem-built calculator on the HP website offering environmental reviews and recommendations for an end-to-end PC network power-management ecosystem.

To delve deeper into green technology, TMC's (News - Alert) upcoming Green Technology World Conference will educate attendees about technologies, essential issues, and trends that enable companies to operate more efficiently, thereby creating a positive impact on both their businesses and the environment.
