InfoPrint Solutions Company UK Environmental Offerings

InfoPrint Solutions Company (IPS) specialises in integrated, end-to-end printing solutions. We focus on information and output management products and offerings that enhance print operations, maximise efficiencies and reduce print and related costs for companies and departments of all sizes.

Our printing solutions are designed to address environmental issues in three ways.

Consumables - Environmental programmes

IPS is proud to present environmental programs that aim to keep our planet clean. IPS encourages customers to return their IPS printer cartridges to one of our collection sites free of charge. IPS printer supplies that are a part of participating recycling, reuse, reclaim and remanufacture programs contain postage paid return labels inside each box. Each printer supply return process is different. The time and effort that goes into remanufacturing each cartridge is an arduous and lengthy process, but we at IPS feel that it is well worth it.

Various solutions are being implemented in up to fourteen different countries around the world, and this is just the beginning! This program is currently available in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States. Efforts are being made to expand this list. Please watch for updates, which will be listed on this site.

How to reduce the amount of waste and environmental impact of your Printer Supplies

  • Quick Win: Use recyclable printer supplies. The InfoPrint Solutions

Company Return Program provides customers with an up front discounted price on select InfoPrint 1000 family toner cartridges. You can return used InfoPrint Solutions Company Printer Supply free of charge to be remanufactured. Printer supplies include toner cartridges, fusers, and transfer units.

  • Longer term: centralise purchasing of supplies to ensure the most

efficient usage of Supplies and also to reduce costs

Power Consumption

In a typical office, equipment such as computers, photocopiers, printers, fax machines, refrigerators and water heaters can account for around 15% to 30% of total electricity consumption. Using office equipment wisely and choosing efficient models can result in big energy and dollar savings.

All office equipment produces heat which has to be removed by the air conditioning system to maintain comfortable temperatures, especially in summer. By reducing the energy consumption of your office equipment you reduce the load on the air conditioning and save money here too.

How to reduce your power consumption

  • Quick Win: use only printers that have Energy Saver mode or Eco Mode,

like IPS printers. When idle and in Energy Saver mode, IPS office printers consume 80% less power. Eco mode reduces power consumption through:

    1. power saver set as low as possible
    2. user interface back-light and LED turned off
  • Longer term: consolidate your printer fleet. Many printers in

organisations are under-utilised. You can replace multiple Inkjet printers with IPS laser printers. Although Inkjets consume on average 80% less power than a laser, lasers can often easily do the workload of 5 or more Inkjets, and are significantly cheaper to run. For example, an IPS InfoPrint Colour 1534 laser A4 printer will print up to 65,000 pages per month, the equivalent of 13 HP Colour 6940 Inkjets

Reducing Printed Output

Since much of the demand for printed documents is driven by processes, organisations should address their core business processes if they want to make any significant reduction in printing.

Paper is the media of choice for most business communications because it's convenient, portable, and easy to read. Some of the drawbacks to using paper are that it can be costly to produce, duplicate, distribute, store, and manage - not to mention difficult to find when needed. Also, when information is on paper, it cannot be easily shared or integrated with online applications, causing a costly and inefficient information disconnect.

We focus on transforming these paper-intensive processes back to a digital format, and then managing these documents online for further distribution, storage, collaboration, and production.

Included in our product range is software which can facilitate the move from paper-based to electronic communications.

How to reduce your printed output

  • Quick Win: where possible, use Duplex printing as standard. Enforce this

using remote Printer Management software such as MarkVision

  • Longer Term: eliminate (where possible) non-networked printers and centralise Printer management using tools such as InfoPrint Manager

• Longer Term: rework your core business processes to reduce (or even eliminate, if appropriate) your printed output volumes. Through software tools such as Mapping Suite and StreamServe we can help you move from printed output to electronic.
