Verizon Video Conferencing is helping EDS, a leading global technology services company, target a 25 percent reduction in its carbon emissions in Australia and New Zealand by 2010. EDS has deployed Verizon Video Conferencing over Verizon Private IP to connect 10 of its sites across Australia and New Zealand. By increasing the use of video conferencing, EDS plans to improve collaboration across its operations, while also hoping to reduce employee air travel by nearly a third.
The Verizon Business solution provides EDS with dedicated video conferencing bandwidth, enabling a high-quality, secure and reliable meeting experience, which in turn promotes internal use. EDS also uses Verizon Audio Conferencing, giving the company access to a range of meeting technologies as an alternative to in-person meetings. Chris Mitchell, EDS managing director for Australia and New Zealand, said: “Verizon Business gave us a complete end-to-end solution that streamlined our infrastructure while enhancing our overall communications capabilities.
Encouraging our employees to embrace video conferencing to complement face-to-face collaboration enables us to foster teamwork across our diverse office sites, and also supports our corporate social responsibility initiatives.”
Andrew Dobbins, Verizon Business regional vice president of sales Asia-Pacific, said, “Businesses are increasingly investigating how they can use technology – and, in particular, emerging IP-based collaborative applications – to reduce their carbon footprint. EDS was looking for a provider with the expertise to develop a fully managed network solution to support innovative applications and collaboration methods. Our audio conferencing solution, and Verizon Video Conferencing deployed over Verizon Private IP, make it easier for the company to embrace new ways of working.”
