After retirement, Enid spent her time with friends and family. She loved traveling and visited Europe, Greece, Israel, Scandinavia, Rio, Buenos Aires, Ireland, London, Australia, Yucatan, Canada and New Zealand. She enjoyed spending time in her beautiful and vibrant garden and discussing family, faith, and world events over coffee with friends. Music was a big part of her life, playing the piano and singing in the church choir. She spent her time volunteering for Catholic Charities and taking Spanish classes.

Enid will always be remembered for her gracious and non-judgmental nature. She was devoted to the church and had a profound sense of faith. She was a pillar of strength and support for those around her. She embodied class, beauty, intelligence, and a sense of humor that always kept a smile on her face. She cared greatly for her family and always encouraged each members' style and unique nature. She demonstrated amazing character and was a role model to many lives she touched.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at St. Alice Catholic Church in Springfield for Enid Rose Scofield of Springfield. She died July 31 of lung cancer at age 82.

She was born March 12, 1925, in Portland to Clarence and Myrtle Wageman Osborn. She married David Scofield on Nov. 22, 1945, in Portland.

She graduated from high school and attended Lane Community College. She worked for the Department of the Navy during World War II and for the Veterans Administration in California. She retired after working at the University of Oregon for 18 years, then worked for Catholic charities.

Survivors include six children, Karen Leach and Michael Scofield, both of Junction City, Shirley Scofield and Joanie Oelke, both of Eugene, Wendy Rowcliffe of Nova Scotia and Kathryn Kliewer of Corvallis; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband, a son, Patrick and a grandson died previously.
