Hoshizen Daisuke is a minor character, despite his role as the leader of The Star Six as well as being Ichigo's twin brother. He only makes brief appearances these days, though it's mostly to buy pastries or to bug the other mages into remembering to attend something related to their world. Despite that, however, Dai does actually come sometimes just to hang out of his own free will. It's not often, though, since he has made frenemies out of Shirogane Ryou and Kiki Gamu.

History

Before Kokoro

Momomiya Daisuke was born the elder twin to Momomiya Shintaro and Sakura, having a younger sister, Ichigo, by twenty minutes. Life for young Daisuke was fairly normal for the most part while he was growing up; he lived a generally carefree life with his parents and sister.

Yet, the child couldn't shake the feeling that something about him was off. Sure, he was more technologically inclined than the others, and sure - he could use a cell phone when others couldn't get away with it. But those were just coincidences, right?

When he was eight, however, Daisuke had the luck to be chased by bullies. Instead of letting them beat him up, however, he gave his last line of defense. Wires sprung from the nearby telephone poles and lashed the boys.

It was this instance that caused Daisuke's aunt and uncle, Hoshizen Kinkou and Kinomiya Hokori, that Daisuke did indeed have the potential to become a mage. Thus, after thinking about it with him for about a month, it was decided that Daisuke was to go live with his aunt and uncle and train as a mage.

There was one condition, however: Daisuke's existence as Ichigo's brother would have to be removed. Dai reluctantly agreed, though in the process of removing their memories, he also removed his. He too didn't want to remember that he was once part of their family.

Daisuke then was raised as the adopted son of the Hoshizens, preferring to go under the surname Kinomiya. He attended Hoshizen, making friends with Kagemori Kaijou and Kazeno Hikari as well. The three, along with two others, became extremely close friends.

During the end of his seventh-grade year, however, Daisuke took an elective on parties and mage friendship. It was this class that led him to become the leader of The Star Six, and the one that spurred his memories of the past.

Around August 2004, Daisuke, Ari, Kyr, Hikari, and Noru would soon enter the cafe for the first time, and be taken into the world of Kokoro.

Kokoro Days

[blergh. I have no idea what happened to Dai back then.]

Recently, Dai was accused of smuggling minar, a dangerous metal known to instantly give frostbite and hypothermia to anyone not used to handling it or anyone who wasn't an ice mage. There was a full-blown out trial resulting after Dai's immediate arrest; Lilac Nakano was the DA assumed to take Dai's side in the case. He easily won a "Not Guilty" verdict, and left the ordeal with few scars.

Kokoro Draft Future

After the other mages leave, Daisuke is left with Hikari. The two end up going to college together, with Daisuke majoring in Computer Engineering. After college, they would return to Tokyo, where they would get married with both of their families' blessing.

Life for them is normal - they raise one daughter, Neiko, and visit the cafe every now and then to check up on everyone. Otherwise, there's nothing of note.

Other-Worldly Counterparts

Chrono Mew Mew: Here, Daisuke is married to Hikari, and they have one daughter, Nami. Otherwise, not much is known about Daisuke other than Kyr highly admires him and that Daisuke is Takeru's godfather.

Daisuke has been a character in the Yuugiou fandom, though his stay was brief. However, he does have a counterpart who is a skilled duelist somewhere.

Personality

From first glance, Daisuke appears to be a stubborn, short-tempered boy. However, once you get to know him, Dai is anything but that unless the boy loses his temper. The redhead tends to be rather kind to those that he considers his friends, and acts like a jerk to those he considers his foes. However, the boy has a guilty conscience and will eventually apologize to anybody that he feels that he's hurt in some form or fashion. Setting that aside, he does mean well, and tends to take a leadership position among his friends. According to his friends, Dai is a natural leader who will make the decisions for the group, but will also listen to others' ideas and see if they'll work in conjunction with his.

Dai tends to be over-protective of those he loves. Yet, this appears like he's acting like a total jerk. He won't notice, however, unless someone points it out.

It seems that like Kyr, Dai becomes his 'true self' in front of the mages, or at least - it certainly seems that way. When he's with the mages, Dai becomes more bold, more daring, and certainly more cheerful.

  • Kazeno Hikari: They're engaged, and have a relationship that has stood the test of time pretty well. Not much to say here, because it hasn't been shown in current Kokoro, but throughout NB and challenge fics instead.

Mage Information

Though Daisuke's proficiency with computers may suggest that he's a black mage (in terms of Final Fantasy classes), Daisuke would actually be classified as more of a swordsman. The reason for this is because Daisuke is more skilled in physically fighting with the sword (while Roy and Sora share a similar weapon, Roy is a fencer and uses a mix, while Sora is more of a black mage), similarly to Shuugo. Daisuke's physical abilities with the sword are not listed as of yet, as he likes to let people think he's a weak black mage, but they are there, and are more powerful than some of his spells.

Weapon

  • Deuxblade: Two short twin daggers that are made of silver. These daggers have a violet handle with the words 'Despite holding the future, never forget the past' in the Thai language on the sides of the blades - one saying the first part, the second holding the second.

Abilities

  • Electronic Control: Dai can hack into any electronic and make it bow to his will; as such, the item occasionally becomes able to talk while under his command. However, he cannot control all electronics, or beings that are comprised of digital energy, such as a cyborg. He might be able to if he tries really hard, but it'll take quite the toll on his energy.
  • Illusion: While inside a city, he can create holograms or illusions from fragments of data. Unlike normal holograms, these are actually the kind that can be controlled more easily, and thus more stable than an time magic illusion might be, for example. However, causing these illusions takes quite a toll on Daisuke's energy - he cannot control them if he doesn't concentrate on them enough. Inside of battle, this technique can be called Matrix Illusion.
  • Scan: During battle, Dai can access profiles/attack stats of the foe he's currently fighting. [It then becomes part of his laptop for easy access outside of battle as part of his collection]
  • Rapid Storm: Using his twin daggers, Dai hacks and slashes at the foe with rapid speed. This is usually used as a counterattack, or prior to one of his spells.

Signature Attacks

  • Data Flash: Dai sends his daggers at the foe as if they were boomerangs. When they hit, fragments of data fly out and sting the target.
  • Phoenix Tears: If Dai's health falls far below the norm, he can call upon his former pet phoenix, Luna, and have her shed tears on his physical wounds, healing them.
  • Barrier: A shield of data forms and protects Dai from oncoming attacks. However, this shield doesn't last long enough to protect him from long-range magic all the time.

Unison Attacks

  • Digital Vine: A unison attack that combines Noru's earth magic and arrows with Daisuke's data magic and sword. The other's element surrounds the weapon (Minoru's arrows would have the element of data; Dai would have an earth-element sword), and they would then attack at the same time.
  • Burning Matrix: Combines Shikari's Burn spell with Daisuke's Matrix Illusion spell. Data and fire encircle a foe to make them believe that they're in fire, but they're just really trapped in their own mind. The attack wears off after Shikari and Daisuke strike, or if the foe realizes that it is just an illusion.
  • Lighting Lamp: A unison attack that combines Daisuke's Electronic Control ability with Marche Lennox's Candlesong spell. Marche lights the candles as normal, but Dai controls the lamplights to change their source to Marche's candles. The two can then successively attack all foes from above with holy data with rapid accuracy. The spell wears off after all the lamplights run out of wax.

Trivia

  • Daisuke is mostly an original fiction character these days, appearing in his authoress's novel Band and short story, Brave Little Lion.
  • Yes, Daisuke and Hikari were heavily based off the Digimon 02 characters at first; Dai's proficiency with computers proves that fact, as well as an old roleplay in 2004. However, Daisuke's current character has been influenced by Shinji Yagami from Sabrina.
