Gabe Crystal is a young doctor, known for his quiet bedside manner. He is struggling with his emerging sexuality, as he has found himself sexually attracted to his neighbor, Hamish MacGregor. He often babysits Hamish's niece, Riley, whom he has custody, so that Hamish can work. Gabe confided his insecurity to his older brother Tom, and Tom revealed that he has been in a homosexual relationship for a number of years.
